Cons: Complicated to use properly
I went out and bought my first flat screen finnaly. Since I was spending the money anyway, desided to do it right and get a nice surround system as well. At the advice of the tech at the store, I opted for the receiver route and built my own speaker set rather than getting one of those pre-boxed sets. The end result blows me out of the water everytime I sit to watch TV now. The sound quality is simply increadible. Don't short change yourself. Get good quality towers for the front of your room with this puppy and a quality sub. Save your money on the side room and back room speakers if you must.
That said, the receiver has SO MANY modes and options and features and toys and buttons and settings... on and on. That is in part what makes it so awesome in the first place, however don't expect to be able to just plug it in, turn it on and get the best sound possible. You will get sound out of the speakers, yes. But if you trully want to hear what this guy is really capable of, take the time to read the manual and learn how to set it and fine tune it properly. Trust me, it will be well worth your time. ...
