Coffee tastes like plastic

Cons: Coffee tastes like plastic, overdesigned

Coffee does not taste good-has a plastic taste to it. I cleaned it repeatedly and expected it to improve as I used it but now, a month or two later it still tastes like plastic. Not sure if it's the materials used or if the water is too hot when going through the tubes. Also- the water filter probably isn't necessary (they just want to sell you more stuff), and the Krupps cone filter does not fit well.

It failed to turn off recently even though the power button was pushed, light was off, it was not in program mode, and that was the last straw-it may have been on all night which is a fire hazard. ...
