Tried a Few and Chose Panda Firewall 2007
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Very easy to use, very effective.
Cons: No cons at all from my point of view.
I have had Panda Titanium 2007 for about a month now. It is easy on resources and during installation you can choose the components you want to install. My laptop only has 512 MB RAM so I did not install the TruPrevent component (although the specifications say 96 MB is enough for its antivirus, 128MB to install its firewall, and 256 MB to install its TruPrevent).
So far it has been very effective in all respects: it saved my laptop from lots of viruses and spyware that NOD32 and Avast just could not see, and killed a couple of types of viruses that even Kaspersky on-demand scanner missed (all in all, more than 1200 nasties my laptop got infected with where I work). My Panda firewall has not leaked yet and blocked a dozen net attacks. I really cannot understand why Panda does not take part in competitions together with other anti-v producers - I am sure it would easily be one of the best there. Maybe the company feels as self-sufficient as its product is.
And just to be on the safe side, I sometimes check my laptop with Dr Web CureIt antivirus utility (it seems the latter deals with its own range of the very latest malware and is just an on-demand scanner that does not need installation).
Some people would probable like to be more in control over what their antivirus and firewall do, but I am one of those who prefer working a computer instead of fighting wars in cyberspace and Panda is certainly the best for me. ...
