Highlander Season 1
Pros: Great plots and storylines. Believable.
Cons: Conflicts with the Highlander movies somewhat
The same Clan as the movie, different relation. Duncan MacLeod of the Clan
MacLeod. Born 400 years ago in the Highlands of Scotland. And he too is
Imortal. Theme song, "I am Imortal"
by Queen Rocks!
Our story starts with an intimate moment disturbed. Duncan MacLeod and Tessa Noel have been living in a city in the Pacific North West for several years, where they run an antiques store. One night, a young street punk called Richie Ryan breaks in to the shop whilst they are celebrating Tessa's birthday, but is caught by MacLeod, who threatens to cut off his head with a sword, ("The Gathering"). Stunned by MacLeod's seeming over-reaction, Richie watches in disbelief as another man jumps in through the skylight and challenges the antiques dealer, only to be disconcerted by the appearance of a third man with a japanese sword, who is in turn hunting him. The intruder is Slan Quince, who is hunting Duncan, unaware that he is himself the target of Duncan's kinsman, Connor MacLeod. Intrigued, the kid follows the MacLeods, only to see first Connor, then Duncan fight Slan. He sees Connor defeated, but escape, leaving Duncan to behead Quince. Amazed, he watches Duncan caught at the centre of lightning and explosions as he witnesses, for the first time, a Quickening. Before he leaves, Connor tells Duncan that he must watch Richie, which Duncan does by taking in the boy, who has no family, and employing him in the antiques store. After what he has seen, MacLeod also tells Richie the truth about himself and the others - that he is 400 years old and he, like them, is Immortal.
So far, I haven't found an episode I disliked, and some were beyond words.

Underclassman (2005 Movie)
Pros: Comedy, Plot Acting
Cons: None
I was sitting up late one night and nothing was on, so I clicked on "Underclassman&quo
t;
I thought it was going to be rather lame at first
but I was surprised. It was actually a pretty good
movie. Cheech Martin may have helped some
with his expertise and experience.
Nick Canon ( Tracy 'Tre' Stokes ) will be someone to keep your eye
on in future movies if he keeps on like he did in
"Underclassman" ...
I kind of think of him as a cross between a
young Will Smith with some Eddie Murphey
thrown in there at random. Sort of.
A young rookie bicycle cop goes undercover at a
rich private school to solve a murder which escalates into a stolen car ring and drug dealing.
23 year old Tracy Stokes, gets in over his head
a lot in this especially when he slips and let's
Captain Victor Delgado's (Cheech Martin)
Vet get stolen at a party. He get's fired but of
course, he dosen't quit. The end is predictable
but it has some unexpected turns.
All in all it's a good action packed movie with
plenty of humor to keep it going.
Thumbs up on this unexpected oldie. -

Ride With The Devil
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Acting, cinematography, realisti
c Cons: Graphic violence may not appeal to some
Ang Lee directs this highly rated movie about one
of the most bloodiest times in our nation's history,
The Civil War. There are few movies that touch
upon the individual toll the war had on individuals.
The film is based on the the book by Daniel Woodrell.
(Spoiler Warning) The story follows a young man, Jake Roedel (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves his home in Missouri to fight with the Southern guerrillas know as the Bushwackers. These young men did not fight a formal army, most often they were in opposition to the northern sympathizers know as the Jayhawks. Jake was the son of a German immigrant whose father, like most Germans, favored the Unionist. Along with his best friend Jack Bull Chiles (Skeet Urich) Jake soon finds himself constantly on the run, killing the Jayhawks and those that supported them. One winter while hiding from the Unionist, Jack Bull and Jake are cared for by a Southern family, which includes a young widow Sue Lee (Singer Jewel Kilcher). Having lost her husband of only three weeks. She needs a man to care for and to care for her. While this may be very politically incorrect now it was a matter of fact back then. The men needed women and in order to survive a woman needed a husband. The film is not short of violence. There are many scenes that show the utter waste of lives this war produced.
Aside from all it's good points, "Ride With The Devil" wasn't very popular. It didn't make any money in the box office which was a shame.
Wonderful cinematography from Frederick Elmes, excellent performances from its (then mostly) young, up-and-coming cast of actors, and the acting debut of pop star Jewel should have brought new, younger viewers to this old genre. The film deserved a better commercial fate because it is as brilliant as the writing from which it is derived, and making such a fine film also “required some genius”.
Still, it's a movie worth watching. You definatly
will not forget it. ... -

Broken Trail
Pros: Beautifull Landscape, Realistic,
Cons: None
Robert Duvall fans will love this one. It's every bit
as thrilling as "Open Range" was when he starred
with Kevin Costner.
Broken Trail takes place in 1897. The end of the Wild West was here. Ready to trade a life on the range for a ranch of his own. All Print Ritter (Duvall)had to do was run 500 horses from Oregon to Wyoming. But it's not all that simple.
Five Chinese girls end up Ritter's responsibility,
and the trip becomes more interesting

Dakota Fanning Fans will love this one. From
"I Am Sam" through "Taken, to "Dreamer"
She remains unparalled in whatever movie
she is in. Her future should be interesting.
"Taken" had me mesmerized from the beginning to

Avatar: Tha Last Airbender
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Amazing storyline for a cartoon
Cons: None
Ok, I know I may be a little too old for this, well mabye not. The Avatar was made for the 11 yr
old range on up. I've noticed that many adults
enjoy it as well. The storyline is designed for
cartoon addicts of all ages. I have all the episodes
on DVD and everyone I know is always borrowing it. The Avatar is a good version of Good vs Evil
in a way that everyone can understand.
Avatar: The Last Airbender takes place in a fantasy world, home to humans, fantastic animals, and supernatural spirits. Human civilization is divided into four nations, the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation. Within each nation, an order of men and women called "Benders" have the ability to manipulate their native element. These Bending arts combine a certain style of martial arts and elemental mysticism. The Bending types are Waterbending, Earthbending, Firebending, and Airbending.
Aang only being 12 yrs old has the weight of the world on his shoulders, literally, as the last Airbender and the Avatar. He is the last hope for the world since the war with the Fire Nation. The storyline and plot are excellent and usually
always go unexpected ways. The writers have to be commended. The animators as I have
learned, go through some martial arts training
to be able to do the animations correctly.
Season 3 will be starting soon. I reccommend The Avatar for the whole Famoly to enjoy. ... -

Billy Jack
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Poignant, A realistic view of Native American racism
Cons: None
Billy Jack is a movie that wasn't as popular as some of the others of that era, but it left a message that stands even today. For the Native American or anyone suffering from racism.
"He was a war hero who hated the war"
The movie touches on Viet Nam, illegal slaughtering of wild mustangs, police corruption, and how Natives are sometimes hated for what they are. Or because they are different.
The song by Coven, "One tin Soldier", was a hit and concidered "The Theme To Billy Jack"
Billy Jack is an oldie but a goodie.
You must check it out. ... -

FareScape
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Imaginative, Great Storyline, Outstanding Cast
Cons: Couldn't think of any
When it first came on Sci-fi channel, I didn't think I'd like it. Especially when animation came from
Jim Henderson Studios. All I could think of was a
Kermit in Space chased by an evil Fozzie Bear.
But nothing was further from the truth.
Farscape was excelently done. An astronaut with
an offbeat sense of humor transported to a very wired, sometimes violent universe. I could see myself there sometimes.
Some of my favorite quotes:
Aeryn: Where's Crichton? He keeps wandering off.
D'Argo: He's over here. I can smell him.
Aeryn: Wait, you can smell him in all of this?
D'Argo: Yes. His odor is even stronger than yours.
Aeryn: I don't have an odor!
Aeryn: She gives me a woody.
*John gives her a look.
Aeryn: Woody. It's a human saying. I've heard you say it often when you mistrust someone or they make you nervous. They give you ...
John: Willies. She give you the willies ... -

Deadwood
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Historically Accurate, Realistic
Cons: Language and situations may be offensive to some
Deadwood has to be one of my favorites. Although it has some rough language (some of the expletives were not even used in the 1800's)
The rest of the show is pretty accurate. From
the shooting of Wild Bill Hickock played by
Kieth Carradine to the elections held on the seris
finale, it gave you a glimpse into a more violent
part of our history. Deadwood is not for the timid
but it's a great seris. Even though it was cancelled
a year before it was originally supposed to be,
I was impressed with the acting, especially with
Calamity Jane. She fitted the image perfectly.
I hope HBO continues with their promise of doing
a few more episodes or a mini-seris to finish it.
Deadwood is a "Must-See!" ...

Sliders Season 1&2
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Imaginative, good mix of humor and drama
Cons: None till the last season. Cast change and it went downhill from there.
Well another one of my favorite sci-fi seris is on DVD, "Sliders" Started watching it on Sci-Fi channel .
"Imagine what it would be like to travel another universe. Where it's the same place, the same time, but everything's different?"
Quinn Mallory, a graduate student of physics, creates a device capable of opening vortices to alternate universes. With a little help from his double from another world, he develops the technology to the extent that not only can he send items through the gateway he created,(or "slide through") but also, with the use of a timer, items can return to their point of origin. He uses himself as his first living "guinea pig," and on his second journey, best friend Wade Welles and his professor/mentor Maximillian Arturo join him.
The wormhole grows unstable and spirals out of control. Singer Rembrandt "Cryin' Man" Brown, driving his car by Quinn's house, is accidentally sucked through with them.
They land on an icy dead Earth and a tornado of ice and forces them to activate the timer ahead of more than four hours before it was scheduled to. It loses its original coordinates, and the Sliders cannot return home. This leaves them unable to control when the vortices open, or which world they lead to. Thus, the Sliders continue their journey, trying to find their way back home.
Starring Jerry O'Connell the show went well until he left and the last season I thought was lame. But all in all it's one of the best Sci-fi has to offer.
Sliders has held up good against rivals
such as Stargate, Farscape, even Star Trek. If you haven't seen it yet, put it on your list. Sliders is great! ...
