Big snore
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
I haphazardly bought this flick when it came out, didn't watch it right away either. Popped it in over the weekend and fell asleeep. I think Bill Murray should stick to slapsticks and I am so happy and glad that I am not alone in feeling that this movie went no where. I was afraid to even write a review and if todays movie-making is any indication of the signs of the times, I highly recommend not wasting twenty bucks; I should have kept my money for something more practical- like a blindfold. ...

Toes-a-tapping
Pros: Good music
Cons: Nothing
That's Chicago! My oh my, where do I begin with the greatness of this film! I did not get to see it at the theater, so with the wait to dvd-it was worth it! Number 1: Catherine Zeta Jones, well deserved oscar on her part! Wow. I felt her intsensity right away at scene one- ...And all that jazz, what a number! Number 2: The under rated John C Reilly... I loved that solo he did, he did it so perfectly that I felt his pain come across the screen. Number 3: The charming irresistable Richard Gere, sadly overlooked by the Academy- Watch the tap dance and you're a dancer dancing with him. Number 4: A little gripe... The dialogue was almost exact to the film Roxie Hart with Ginger Rogers. Other than that, I highly recommend it! ...

The way movies should be made
Pros: Writing,acting,scenery,
music Cons: nothing
I knew right off the bat ( no pun intended ) that this movie would strike gold. It's a noir piece that captures that era to a tee. It combines a perfect combination of a well written script, humor, actors and music. It depicts the mob as it once was ( and still is ) and leaves no stone unturned. Sean deserved the Oscar as supporting actor and I only wish that Charles Martin Smith would do more films like this. ...

Interesting
Pros: Actors,story
Cons: Excessive violence
A hogwash mix of 70s exploitation, samurai and spaghetti western films; Kill Bill: Vol.1 will no doubt go down in history as a cult classic, taking the place where Xena left off. ...

Don't get it
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
This is not one of those Fridays to thank God for. The trudging, 'hood comedy had no momentum. It lurched from one punch up curse-out to another.

Rotten apples
Pros: Good looking actors
Cons: No direction, lack of contention
First of all, why the waste of such talented actors? I tried not to fall asleep, but it didn't work. Secondly, as an aclaimed director, Trier should stick with formulas that work; like Dancer in the Dark. This movie aka play did absolutely nothing for me. ...

Coming of Age
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Writing, acting
Cons: Nothing
A fantastic coming-of-age movie. Truly a family film: there's no foul language, no gore, and no sex. Just action, adventure, comedy, and emotion. Walter, played by Osment, finds out what a family really is. The great uncles, Hub and Garth ( Robert Duvall, Sir Michael Caine ), are two older men who feel they've passed their prime. This changes a bit when Walter comes in the picture as Hub and Garth have heart- teach this boy what he needs to know about love, honor, courage and respect. The courage symbolism can be seen when they get a "used " lion and also when Walter jumps out of the car towards the end to go back. ( I won't say anymore-No spoiler.) All the actors were fantastic. In their prime, Caine, Osment and Duvall show us something that needs to be appreciated more often-sensitivity. This one's a keeper! ...

Unknown parameters
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing
Cons: Debatable, confusing writing.
Onibaba started out really good. After understanding the instincts of survival and rage from the women, I believe there were inconsistencies. It had a good buildup to the soldier entering the picture,( who was the guy that killed him?, he was supposedly dead ) the music was outstanding and if anything, the emotions that were played out symbolized by the forces of nature; the rain, thunder, lightning and wind, were what made this film bearable. The ending of Onibaba left me asking the question, " What just happened?" ...

I don't think so.
Pros: Controversy
Cons: Tactless
All right. I have been interested in Monty Python for some time and had heard a lot of hype about this dvd. After finishing the glutton scene ( hardly ), I shut it off. It was gross. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate English humour at times, but this time... I don't think so. It started off good, but... The "Every Sperm is sacred" bit was hysterical. I had to take a break, literally, from this film. You can only get too much Python. Not for everyone, this movie did not lack in controversial situations. If you want to appreciate English humour, I recommend Are You Being Served instead. ...

The plot thickens
Pros: Acting,writing,scenery
Cons: Lack of music score
1. Get a copy of the book first. 2. Watch film more than twice 3. Repeat. 4. Stop asking is it safe. Liked it but not enough to warrant a full review.
