Adult Swim's Hidden Gem
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: I love this show!
Cons: nada
The Venture Brothers is kinda/sorta a spoof on the old Johnny Quest cartoon series. Except it's waaaaay more violent, sexy, and funny. Some very good voice work, and the animation is spot on. I am looking forward to getting season two in a set soon. ...

Best Bond EVER-Bar None
Pros: You really believe that this guy earned his 'license to kill'
Cons: nope, I dug it
I've watched pretty much all of the Bond movies, and have never really been all that satisfied with them. Always kinda thought that it was 'Star Trek' for spy nerds. THIS James Bond doesn't need no freakin invisible car! Hopefully this movie will revitalize this tired franchise, and continue. For all of the people out there bitchin and moaning about poor old Pierce Brosnan-This James Bond would kick the everlasting crap out of ol Remington Steele before breakfast! ...

A Suprisingly Good Movie
Pros: A good portion of the movie captured the spirit of the original "Rocky"
Cons: none
I fully expected this movie to suck balls-but it was really pretty good. The last couple films of the "Rocky" series were pretty awful, however-this film managed to recapture some of the feel of the original. I found myself really enjoying it. ...

Outstanding Book!
Pros: A great example of a writer bringing his A-game!
Cons: could have used so much more descriptiveness re: the peripheral characters
Neil Gaiman is much better known as a comic book scripter than a novelist-and this is unfortunate. All of his short stories and non-comic writing is very very good. You will definitely never look at angels the same way again! This novel painted a very interesting picture of all of the ancient, and for the most part, forgotten gods and dieties that all of the various immigrants and travellers 'brought with them' to North America. This novel could have easily been twice as long, and still been just as engrossing! Highly recommended! ...

The only Anne Rice Book That I Enjoyed
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: NOT a vampire book!
Cons: none
I've read a lot of Anne Rice's books, and never really 'got' the whole vampire thing, so-I never really had any connection to her writing. However, I did really enjoy this book. It is the account of a djin-a 'genie'-you know? Barbara Eden??? She does tie the plot into her whole universe, but loosely-the vampire stuff is only mentioned. I though that the characters were fascinating, and the storyline was engaging and exciting. Good book to read in bed. ...

Very Good Book
Pros: Very realistic picture of armored warfare
Cons: The european theater has changed drastically since this was written
I really enjoyed this book. I was in a cavalry unit (11th ACR) in Fulda Germany for part of my enlistment, and found that this book depicted the deployment of armor very realistically. I would recomend this novel. ...

Wisdom From the Good Doctor
Pros: Probably the best example of Hunter's writing
Cons: some dated esoteric stuff here, may be hard to relate
Read enough of this guy's stuff and he really gets in your head. When I was but a wee lad, in my impressionable youth-I labored under the assumption that the world was a grand and ordered place. There were rules, and people obeyed them. There were standards for behavior, and people heeded them....Then I grew up and discovered the horrible truth.
I really enjoy political critisism, and HST's writing is right up my alley. He injects an element of humor, and horrified objectivity into his prose that is truly enjoyable to read. ... -

One of my favorite modern comic stories
Pros: Logan is finally given room to run
Cons: nope
Wolverine has always been one of my favorite comic characters. I got on board somewhere back in school with the X-Men 'Days of Future Past' storyline, and was immedietly drawn to the wolverine character. Through the 90's, the character got very homogenized-due mainly to his immense popularity, he was the 'guest star of the month' in a lot of books. After the comics crash in the 90's-Logan floundered for a bit, and then some good writers got ahold of him and let him run. I think that the 'Enemy of the State' storyline(s) is the best example yet of Logan's true character. The first one os good, but the second graphic novel shows Logan for what he truly is-an unstoppable force. He is driven by a strictly principled moral code, and will not be swayed. One of my favorite graphic novels, and one I'd highly reccomend! ...

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know....
Pros: some of this stuff is hilarious
Cons: They let Vince Neil contribute......
I wasn't a huge Motley Crue fan in high school, but they were definitly big back then. I saw this at the bookstore and purchased it. This was actually a very funny book! It is amazing to think that these guys got anything recorded considering the vast amounts of drugs and alcohol they consumed. The part about Ozzy snorting ants off the sidewalk was especially funny...... ...

An Outstanding Book!
Pros: Great characterization
Cons: none
This is honestly one of the finest novels I've ever read. The author is a master at building characters, and his narration is second to none. The plot twists were just that-'twists', entirely unexpected. I would highly recommend this novel.
This is the story of two young boys growing up in pre-republic Kabul Afghanistan. As the sociopolitical climate around them changes, they change irrevocably with it. I found this to be a stirring and emotional narrative, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it! ...
