Perfect
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpful This is one film that gets it all right. Intelligent, powerful, esoteric vision of a legendary tale. It boasts an allstar cast, and the best performance by an adolescent(Kirsten Dunst, 11 at the time) since Linda Blair in "The Exorcist"! You will not be disappointed, I assure you.

Warriors rumble into legend
I first saw this film on HBO in 1981, and it really struck a nerve. One of those films you don't forget, it balances gritty realism with hollywood overblown kitsch. It succeeds.

Moira Kelly Shines
Sometimes you need to temper the seriousness of drama with humor and good feeling on the screen, and this film fits the bill. Light hearted entertainment at it's best, with just a touch of heart tugging sprinkled throughout. A laugh and a smile feed the soul. Toe pick, indeed!

Should have won the oscar in 1988
This is one POWERFUL, gripping, grab your senses and drag them through an obstacle course tour de force. Do not let any of the comedies Michael Keaton has done fool you. This is oscar quality dramatic acting in an oscar deserving film. Excellent, excellent supporting roles played by Morgan Freeman(the counselor) and Kathy Baker(as Charlie). One of the finest, most amazing dramatic films you will ever see. There's nothing like having a celluloid mirror held in front of your conscience. It will take several viewings to fully realize the scope of this film. Enjoy!

Real life on the big screen
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpful One of the best ensemble casts ever assembled. I don't know exactly why this film hit me so hard, or why the feeling has lasted so long except to say; great story, great characters, great actors.
The slow, steady realization that they are not who they thought they were, at first scares them, then pisses them off, then finally fits the image in the mirror and not the mind, is a progression everybody goes through eventually.
Been there.

Good ensemble cast plays it straight up
This film was a favorite of mine when it came out in 1986. I was 22 and living/doing the same things as the characters in the movie. This could have been a six month period of my life at that time. Anyway, enough reminiscing.
The cast gets it right in their portrayal of young singles in the mid 1980's. Demi Moore's performance in the breakup scene is gripping, emotional, and convincing; it will leave you feeling drained and beat, like it has just happened to YOU!
TMF_2000(previous reviewer) is right on, the look in Demi's eyes during that scene are classic, you can see/feel the pain.

oh, to be in my 20's again
Remember when your friends and parties were the most important thing in your life? Remember the late nights drinking, smoking, talking, reveling in your youth and independence? Remember when the future was uncertain, your whole life was still in front of you? Remember when.......... St. Elmo's Fire
