Brokeback Mountain (2005)
2 of 3 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: a beautiful, tragic, romance
Cons: a little slow moveing especially early on
When you go into a movie this hyped it's hard to know what to expect but all the fanfare aside I think it was a really beautiful tragic love story. I do have problems with how very slow moving it was especially in the beginning but it did eventually pick up the pace a bit. The scenery was beautiful and the acting was wonderful, just like we would expect from the well known cast. Lets not forget either that the sex scenes were well done and to be honest kinda hot! I admit I also enjoyed the very fact that it was a beautiful, romantic, emotional, gay romance because in truth there really aren't enough movies bringing these into the mainstream and movies like this could do a lot to normalize and destigmatize gay romance for society in general. It was a strong story about love and about fear. It is definitely worth the watch, it's a beautiful love story that will likely become a classic. ...

Hostel (2005)
Pros: great concept
Cons: over the top gore takes away from psychological fear and it just ends up being gross
Ok I didn't hate it, but I'm not sure this one I'll put in again soon. The concept behind the movie is great, it could have been turned into a really good psychological thriller but the gore pushed it past that and into stomach turning. The plot was strong and the acting was good, but the amount of blood and guts was just too much for me to really enjoy. The concept of a place where rich folk go and pay thousands of dollars to torture unsuspecting folk kidnapped off the street to death is creepy, cause hell I think there are enough psychopaths to keep an operation like that in business, but they lost me the third time I had to resist the urge to close me eyes and considered turning it off for fear my kids would wake up and walk out at just the wrong moment. All that being said there are a lot of great excellent boobs in this movie which lets be honest does help a little! In the beginning before the gore when it's just spooky mystery it's really enjoyable, but don't go into this one expecting to come out and go eat dinner. The over top gore fest knocked this one down to a 2.5 for me. ...

American Werewolf in London
Pros: humours
Cons: the ending
I did enjoy it, my main problems were that the acting especially that of David seemed somewhat plastic to me though for an 80s film I suppose that';s to be expected. I did appreciate that the wounds and "gore" weren't overly done they were obvious without being stomach turning. My big question has to be though, who the hell goes into a strange country for a trip and manages to walk off the road and God knows how far into field without noticing it!? I was disappointed in the ending I was actually startled by the ending credits, there really should have been some closing scene, something to take me from "there's David, he really is a werewolf and now he's dead too" to "the end." But honestly I can see why it's the cult classic it is, it managed to remain very light keep me laughing even in the tense scenes. ...

Napoleon Dynamite Review
Pros: very clean
Cons: not funny, not even stupid, just nothing
This movie is easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. With so many people talking about how funny it is I actualy expected it to be funny at least ammuseing. It's not that I was expecting something amazing but at least stupid humor would have been something. enjoy a good pointless movie sometimes, but only if it's well done. This movie was none of those things. It wasn't funny, wasn't stupid, not even just a pointless ammusment. I think I smirked maybe times dureing the whole movie I never actualy got to laugh. when it was over I actualy felt angry because this movie stole 80 minutes of my life I could have spent watching a movie with any redeaming values! ...
