Keep looking
5 of 9 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Good photo quality.
Cons: Poor AF, shutter lag, build quality, poor value.
Like other Kodak digital cameras, the Z700 takes nice photos with good resolution and very accurate, vibrant colors.
However, compared to other Kodak digital cameras I've owned, this one is the weakest. Standout negatives include inconsistent AF - particularly in low-light and, like many Kodak products, the Z700 suffers from a serious case of shutter-lag.
Also, the Z700 seems a bit flimsy and doesn't have the quality feel of other cameras in its price range.
It's strengths? Well... compared to other cameras in this segment, the Z700 is a loser. ... -

Very good camera with lots of features
11 of 12 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Easy to use, large LCD, lots of manual features, value.
Cons: Complicated menu, bundled software, flash.
As an entry-level point-and-shoot, the S90 functions very well in full auto. The AF functions superbly under all lighting conditions - though in very low light, it's a bit slow.
Picture quality is quite good and colors are fairly accurate.
Sony has given this camera a lot of manual adjustments as well - some of which are rare in this segment including: white balance, burst, color and contrast settings. Even better, all these adjustments are available in movie mode.
While all these manual adjustments are very useful, getting through the menu requires a lot of button-pushing.
Another negative... the flash is a bit much and tends to wash everything out.
All-in-all, the S90 is a very good value... an excellent point-and-shoot with a lot of unique features. ... -

Highly rated... not sure why.
8 of 8 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Compact size, easy to use, bundled software.
Cons: Picture quality, inconsistent auto-focus.
The Nikon 4600 is impressive on paper but not so much in reality.
The strengths of this camera lie in its compact and efficient design as well as its ease of use.
Nikon includes some good software features - again, all very easy to use.
The camera generally performs well - or, at least, as expected under normal conditions. But in low light, it's AF is very slow to focus and frequently misses - something unacceptable in an entry-level point-and-shoot.
The biggest surprise with the highly rated 4600 was photo quality. Though image quality/resolution was generally good, colors were well off the mark - too much so, even after touching up.
Compared to similarly priced cameras, this one is only average. ... -

Very good... not great
4 of 4 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Large LCD, lens quality, compact design, good image quality.
Cons: Inconsistent AF, flimsy parts/build.
The DX7950 is extremely easy to use and photos are crisp, clear and of very good quality. Colors are particularly true and vibrant.
The design of the camera is excellent and all controls are exceptionally easy to use. The large LCD is a great feature and the menu system is very well laid out and a breeze to use.
My biggest complaint with this camera is with the autofocus (there is no manual override). The AF frequenty misses - particularly in low-light conditions. Also, several parts - the zoom toggle in particular - seem very flimsy and the camera seems too fragile.
For what this camera cost, I expect better build quality and a much better auto-focus. ... -

Great camera
Pros: Image quality, easy to use, auto and manual features, durability, value.
Cons: Bundled software, slightly complicated menu, some parts of questionable quality.
I've owned this camera for well over a year and have been very pleased with its performance in virtually every way. The camera is very easy to use right out of the box and image quality is excellent. For photo enthusiasts there are many manual/adjustable features - though Fuji's menu system is a little tedious. My S7000 has been a real workhorse and has worked flawlessly.
Some parts on the camera seem a bit flimsy - the door for cf/xd cards in particular. Other than that, quality is excellent.
The Fuji image editing software included with this camera is lousy.
The performance and durability of this camera along with its bargain price make it a winner. ...
Awesome but Pricey
18 of 18 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Image quality, speed, manual adjustments, lens system, build quality, etc...
Cons: Price, complex menu system
The Rebel XT produces images that are very sharp and exhibit excellent tonal balance and colors that are absolutely true to life.
The XT is quite easy to use right out of the box (for the most part) and, with exception to the rubber USB port door, it is an exceptionally well-built and solid feeling camera.
What impresses most is the speed of the XT. Switch it on and it's ready to go. It'll rattle off three frames per second in burst mode and about one frame per second with the flash. Amazing.
Canon has loaded the XT with plenty of manual adjustments but getting through the menu system is a real chore. Canon needs to look a Kodak and Sony menu systems - they could really stand to learn something here.
Finally... though an XT can be purchased for under $800, add on an upgraded lens (I highly recommend the Canon 17-85mm), 1GB CF card, spare battery, etc and the price could easily double.
In conclusion... it's an awesome but pricey camera. ...
