I love my Thinkpad
3 of 3 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Light, Very Tough, Awesome Keyboard, Trackpoint
Cons: Too much pre-installed IBM software, that's not necessarily useful
This is my second Thinkpad - and I love it. You certainly pay more for IBM, but if you're human, and things get spilled, dropped, dusty, etc... it still keeps going. As opposed to, that model that saved you $1K-but you broke it and had to buy it over again. I bought it summer '06, when Duo-Core was brand new, and the speed is pretty awesome - relative to desktop PCs. The speed is much better after you remove a lot of that junk software that IBM, and all manufacturers, put on the machine. Although, some of the Thinkvantage software is excellent, and better than Windows - you'll have to decide what to keep, and what to trash. I use it primarily for Grad School... all the other students are dragging around these monstrous laptops, that weigh a ton, and are just bulky. Everyone is envious of this product b/c they realize they didn't need a 15/17 inch screen - and, mine weighs like 3 lbs., which when added to textbooks, etc is nimble. Buy IBM - you won't be sorry. ...

Cons: none, really
I'm much happier with HP than my buds are w/ Palm - they've got Treos & such. No phone in this, but of course it may be dangerous to combine too much functionality into one device ('cause, what if you break it?) ...
