Not a bad budget camera
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Durable, multiple program and manual modes, SDHC compatabalility, audio recording, video, UI
Cons: Slow Flash recycle time, 4-way controller gets in the way.
I've had this camera for about 9 months now. Overall, not a bad camera for the price; and it's quite useful to me. I prefer the program mode, which allows me to adjust specific parameters of what will be photographed-specifical
ly the manual focus option. It's limited, but better than not having it at all. The camera is pretty durable-I've dropped mine numerous times; with no apparent damage. That durability can come in handy if you're in a lively mosh pit. The audio recorder comes in handy for annotating pictures. The video function is better than average-a good split between quality and economy. The UI is informative and concise. ...
Images can tend to grainy if you're not careful with the adjustments. The 4 way controller tends to be the biggest aggravation, you can inadvertently activate the timer or audio function during action photography. The flash is laggy-if you need something to catch multiple action shots in a short time with flash, this camera is not what you want. Despite the slowness, the flash does take good photos in near darkness. -

Not bad after a year or so
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: AVI videos. Decent image quality, numerous settings good battery life.
Cons: Dodgy colour in videos, only fair with motion shots
I've had my A6 for awhile and have taken a number of pictures with it, and overall I've been pretty satisfied with it. I do a lot of road shots, and it's sufficed for these. I got a Kodak C875, but have kept the Samsung for videos, which, despite it's dodgy colour balance(which can be corrected with post-processing), it does fairly well-the videos it produces can be edited and processed with readily available freeware(as opposed to my Kodak, which shoots Quicktime movies). I'm happy wit it, it's been a decent value for the money. ...
A Good Value For The Money
4 of 5 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Fast Shutter/Flash Recycle time Good Picture Quality
Cons: Can't add filters. No Video Zoom. Flash configuration. Zoom Control. Linux incompatibility.
I've been using this for a month now, and I'm quite happy with it. I'm particularly fond of the camera body which fits naturally in the hand and the shutter button is easily reached. I do some action photography, and this comes in handy-the shape makes it easy to hold the camera steady. I like the range of options for adjusting pictures.
The flash is something that takes some getting used to-I have to remember to toggle the release, so as to use it. That's about the only complaint I have with it-I like the fact that it's adjustable, and the cycle time is much faster than previous cameras I've owned. That's pretty important to me.
This camera does well in low light. I often shoot in low light; sometimes through a car windscreen; and I get satisfactory results just the same. The AF lamp is particularly useful in this regard-it's rated as having a range of 1.8 metres; but it is actually functional as a guide for much greater distances.
I like the display, which is informative without being excessively cluttered; the standard viewfinder is handy.
The zoom control needs some work. It's backwards to me-and I have to fiddle with it. There is one plus to it's location and setup-I'm less likely to inadvertently zoom while moving about.
You can use this camera with the USB and Linux-but with caution. It's easy enough to lock up your computer. It's just as well to use an external card reader to load pictures onto your computer. ...
