Contains best pop song of 1998...
Yes, "Torn" was truly the best pop song of 1998. Natalie was like the third person to have recorded this song, and the only one to make it a huge success. The video was also just great. It's ironic that's the only song on the album Natalie did not have a hand in writing... the other songs she released "Wishing I Was There" and "Smoke" were decent, but just did not live up to the amazing "Torn." That song got screwed over by the Grammys last year....everyone claimed it didn't get nominated because it was too poppy, but now look, this year "I Want It That Way" is nominated for the whole sha-bang... ... -

Major songs missing...
A lot of people LOVE this album. Can't get enough of it. But coming from me, a true and enduring Madonna fan, I don't feel it does her justice. Her newer stuff can sometimes put her older stuff to shame. I wish she would have omitted "Papa Don't Preach," "Like A Virgin," and "Material Girl" from this album and replaced them with "Dress You Up," "True Blue," "Oh Father," and "Keep It Together." I also don't like how songs like "Open Your Heart," "Holiday," "Borderline," and "Lucky Star" are chopped...their original long versions are much better. The one totally redeeming thing on this cd is "Justify My Love." Madonna and Lenny Kravitz...how can you go wrong??? Despite its controversy, I just think this is a wonderful song, and the other new song on it, "Rescue Me" is also good. That was the start of the new and improved Madonna of the 1990s! ... -

Give it a try...
I think a lot of people did not give this album a full chance. It remains one that I like to listen to 10 years after its release. The only radio hit it contains is "Vogue," but there is a lot more to this cd...try "Something To Remember," "More," and "Sooner Or Later." I think this album is a true demonstration of Madonna's varied singing talent. ... -

One of her best...
This is in my top 3 of Madonna albums. It's just great...there isn't a song on it I don't love. I especially recommend "Express Yourself," "Promise to Try," "'Til Death Do Us Part" (most likely about her marriage to Sean Penn), "Spanish Eyes," and "Oh Father," which is one of my very favorite Madonna tunes. I think this is the first album we really got to see that there was much more to Madonna than a fit, dance-a-maniac, who liked to shock us with how she looked. We learned this woman thought about life, was full of girl power, and didn't care if she went against the "norm." ... -

A true-blue 80s must have...
Although this album contains one of my very least favorite Madonna songs in "Papa Don't Preach," it also contains probably her second best single ever (next to "Ray of Light") in "Live to Tell." This cd is a great representation of the late 80s with good tunes like "Open Your Heart," "La Isla Bonita," "True Blue," and "White Heat." ... -

Wonderful Album...
Imagine the Wallflowers crossed with Radiohead, and you just may end up with a splendid group that's finally getting the recognition they deserve... Vertical Horizon. Their cd "Everything You Want" is superb. Song highlights include the radio hit of the same title, and the wondrous "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" "Finding Me," and "You Say." On a disappointing note, VH recently canceled out on a Pittsburgh show to appear on Leno. I am happy they're getting national attention, but don't disappoint the fans who have gotten you this far. :) ...
