David is always awesome live
Pros: electricity of performance
Cons: none
I've had the pleasure to see David Bowie perform live several times, but I was definitely too young to see him back in 1974. Since I couldn't be there, I'm glad to have the chance to listen to this live CD.
David's voice is much fuller and richer in live performance than it is on many of his CDs of this time period. As always, his band is extremely skilled and willing to take chances musically. ... -

Still a relevant album
Pros: classic Tori; great lyrics
Cons: none
This album ranks as one of Tori's classics. The incredibly personal, yet universal, yet wonderfully poetic nature of her lyrics is epitomized by such classics as "Silent All These Years", "Winter" and "Crucify." ...

Elvis is still king
Pros: Great songs
Cons: none
This is a great collection of lesser known songs than were featured on the Elvis #1s collection. Not all of Elvis' great songs made #1.

Definitive musical theater
2 of 2 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Incredible score, music. Career-defining performances
Cons: none
Phantom of the Opera is a masterpiece. It's one of the best musicals of the past 20 years. And this recording does an amazing job of capturing the magic of the live performance.
Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford are incredible. They define the roles. It's hard to imagine anyone else singing these roles. ... -

Touching performances
Pros: A great introduction to Elvis' gospel recordings
Cons: Impossible to fit all Elvis' gospel recordings on 1 CD
When Elvis sings "How Great Thou Art", or "Take My Hand, Precious Lord", you can feel that these songs touched him in a way that others did not. His heart belonged to gospel. ...

They might not write the most sophisticated songs, but they're fun to listen to. -

Good beginning, not so good ending
This movie starts out very promising. It's easy to feel a great deal of sympathy for the crippled protagonist who is told that her father is away on business, but constantly sees his dead body in darkened, candle-lit rooms. With the help of her father's chauffeur, she realizes that her stepmother is trying to drive her crazy so that the stepmother will inherit the father's vast fortune.
Unfortunately, the rather contrived ending throws all this sympathy and wonderful creepiness out the window when unexpected truths are revealed about almost all the main characters. It's hard to feel any connection to any of them when it turns out that they are other than what they appeared to be. ... -

An underappreciated genius
I'm not kidding. Berlioz was both an original and passionate composer and an incredible writer. It's a shame that, for most of his life and 100 years after his death, his genius was not acknowledged.
This book paints a vivid picture of the constant struggles and infrequent successes of his life. It includes his interactions with Liszt, Paganini, Wagner, Meyerbeer, as well as Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, and others who enjoyed his work.
This translation is lively and includes both Berlioz' footnotes, and notes from both translators. ...

great phone
Pros: thin, doesn't scratch
Cons: not as cool as expected
I thought it would be cooler than it is, but overall it's an impressive phone. Not too hard to hit the keys. Looks kinda star trek like.
