Long Live The Queen!
0 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Great Direction...Great Content...Great Acting!
Cons: None
I highly recommend this movie to all Elizabethan lovers...and those that merely want to know about her.
I liked the actors a lot, especially the way their characters enfolded...with the times...and scenes.
I'm glad this story was not told in an hour and a half time constriction...this allowed for all the main plots of Queen Elizabeth's life to be revealed well. ... -

Purple Pleasures :)
Pros: Heart-touching characters & tremendous actors!
Cons: None
When I read the book, it took me to a world far far away...I cried, I laughed, I loved it!
But when I watched the film, I was mesmerized!
It's a beautiful depiction of all the characters, better sketched in the movie I believe.
Whoopi & Oprah were by far my favorite actors in this most memorable movie. Definitely worth being in everyone's dvd collection! :) ... -

Syriana is Beautiful!

Cons: None
How "Oil" is the conjugating element between the East & West rulers, Syriana shows just that!
This outstanding movie is worth your time and money! -

Why?
Pros: The Author
Cons: The Story
I have tried to pick up this book twice and tried reading it sincerely but I couldn't go past chapter 2.
I couldn't understand Tilo's worlds (more of a fantasy) and I felt very bored very quickly, which is usually a big sign for me to get rid of the book in my hand and find a better replacement.
Now I have even viewed the trailer of the film made on this movie, acted by Aishwarya Rai...I couldn't bear to watch it!
I'm sorry Ms. Chitra, this one didn't digest too well. Better luck next time, hun! ... -

Someone turn this Book into a Movie!
Pros: Wonderful Characters full of Love, Agony & Martimony
Cons: None
After "Arranged Marriage" I picked this book to read. I was mesmerized by Chitra's ability to take me to a city I've never been to, where I could smell and taste and visualize and understand everything Bengali.
Chitra's ladies in the book: Sudha & Anju are women that we will never forget. The strength of their relationship is awe-inspiring and it makes a loner like me want a sibling or a best friend of that calibre!
I have recently come into the possession of the sequel called "Vine of Desire" and I can't wait to plunge into the worlds of Sudha & Anju again! :) ... -

Neat Stories
Pros: An interwoven mixture of contemporary & traditional stories
Cons: None
This book was my introduction to Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, an author I have drawn immense inspiration from!
Apart from being a light read, what I immensely enjoyed was the quick flow of stories and the so-real characters that Chitra has created.
As soon as I finished reading this book, I had to get my hands on the rest of her work!
Chitra makes you hungry for more of her tempting and satisfying work! :) ... -

Only AR Rahman is Dil Se...
Pros: Soundtrack
Cons: SRK's vague acting
AR Rahman is India's best Music Composer today. Not a debatable fact!
I'm just tired of SRK's mopping acting...he cries best only in Yash Chopra & Karan Johar's films.
Manisha Koirala is beautiful and brilliant in this movie. Wonder where has she gone away to nowadays...
Preity looked plump but cute...not bad for her first film!
Alrite...going back to the soundtrack...love Sonu Nigam's renditions...Tu hi tu satrangi re, tu hi tu mann rangi re! :) ... -

Brilliant Bhansali
Pros: Very colorful, very musical
Cons: Long Film
Bhansali's given life to Devdas in this outstanding movie...the colorful frames of beautifully sari-clad women and gamuts of emotions playing on their faces, brings a viewer to a shocking halt. You want time to stop. You want life to pause. You want to drink in all that beauty!
Ismail Darbar deserves all the accolades for composing such heart-touching compositions. And Madhuri Dixit is simply splendid in all her aura and beauty-ful expressions.
She is the only reason I went to see this movie and she is the only character I enjoyed watching!
SRK has done well as a drunkard...but again, Madhuri remains the highlight of this movie!
"Dola Re" will remain my favorite for ages to come! ... -

Do it like Gurinder!
0 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Fantastic Screenplay
Cons: Nope...not one...
Parminder is a remarkable British Punjaban who's more in love with football than the frivolity of her culture!
She's a character that perhaps most desi girls will relate to. Her drive to do her best at what she aspires the most, is what takes a mere sport to turn into her life's biggest opportunity!
Her mom & dad could easily pass off to be mine haa haa...such is the close resemblance of character!
Gurinder Chadha's best work to date! ...

Par Excellence!
0 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: The Story & how it's told...
Cons: None
It's so Magical, the way P.Gregory tells this story. I lived with each character as the story progressed...I could relate to their fears, their heart-breaks, their passion, their thrills!
This book is definitely my first brilliant read of 2007, so far! :) ...
