Its definately a 4
I dont know, RBF is far and away my fave band, but their CD's seem to go in decending order, at least in the order I have bought them. I know it wass their first CD, but come on. I think they have something to live up to, Turn the Radio Off being the 2nd CD they made, and being their absouloute hands down best album. I wanted a great CD. I mean, Why do they rock so hard was pretty great, but had visible flaws. Keep Your Reciet is fun to continuously watch the videos, but the songs are sub-par. And now this, a worthy CD, but one which is off, I wonder why? would it be because they sound like they recorded it in a bathroom or something. I mean, it is quite a good try for a first effort, but with Turn the Radio off out their, there really isnt much of a comparison between the two. And the ECD section isnt worth dying for, its a third of Keep your Reciept's. Ohh la de da. Anyway, I live in the hope that my faveorite band will stop all this and do what made Turn the Radio off so great.
Bottom Line: A good, fun try RBF, but we could sure use something new. ... -

Actually a 4 1/2, but it still kicks
A great album this one is, but it just cant quite reach the greatness of the sounds of Turn the Radio Off. Now this CD hardly dissappoints ANYONE who even remotely liked the first, but sadly, they track a bit off into other areas of less perfection. The songs that retain the same fast, fun, true ska are excellent, as good as the original, and when I first started off with Somebody Hates Me, I was smiling through the roof. But there are too many let down songs. Some songs that have a new sound are great (I'm cool, I can't make you love me), but too many are just loud sludge, losing its ska roots, substituting it with eithor rap or hard rock, neithor of which fit. Too bad, because the rest of this album is the bands top work, but it is dragged down by the tad too occasional garbage. A valiant try the succeed mostly, but with its crop of failures. ... -

Amazing
This CD is excellent. It is the best one that I own and I own quite a few (60 or so). I believe that the sounds that it produces are amazing, some giving off the right emotion, the majority just giving out pure fun ska. The greatest thing about this band is they are 2nd string, not everyone knows about them, and their music is superb. If you are in the market for ska, this is the CD I recommend, and if you already have it, the other (Why Do They Rock So Hard?) is a very good album as well. A must for any ska fan. ...
One of the best...
I am constantly amazed with Dave Matthew's work, and this is certainly one of his top albums. Especially when compared to his two latest, but unbalanced (BTCS was dark, and Everyday was light), albums, this is a masterpiece. It includes increadible jam sessions, such as So Much to Say and Tripping Billies, great love songs that fail to be cliche, and the quiet guitar pieces you've come to expect from Dave. What this album has that his latest albums tragically don't, is both a funky optimism and a certain, intangible depth. Overall, I love this song, track one to twelve, and I highly recommend it to all fans who loved Under the Table..., though I would warn new fans of Everyday that it isn't the same... more relaxed, more hip, and less formulatiac. Buy it, and enjoy. ...
