Jennair Dual Fuel
3 of 3 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Down Draft Dual Fuel
Cons: Extreemely Unreliable
We have a dual fuel Jennair. We were attracted to its down draft feature since we could not use a vertical vent.
We also liked having gas for the stove top for its good temperature control. We liked the electric oven because of its self cleaning feature.
We haven't liked the performance, the service, or the company support.
This appliance has a major problem with operation above 400 degrees F. When I roast beef or lamb I like to start at 450 degrees F and lower it to 350 degrees after 20 minutes. Recently (out of wuarranty of course) the oven has failed (shut down completely ) half the times I have tried. Of course this happens at Christmas, Easter, etc. I have had to finish at a neighbor's house, my barbecue etc. I have had service people out three times with no satisfaction.
I tried Jennair customer service ( they don't give a telephone number) but they use some software that parrots back your complaints, i.e., "I am sorry you are having a problem with your oven please call a serviceman". I get more support from India for my computer.
We are having a party this weekend and I just bought a stand alone oven for back-up. It failed today heating my daughter's "ore ida's" at 450 degrees F.
I have not replaced it because the only option for downdraft has been Jennair. Since it doesn't work, venting the stove has become a joke. I will start looking for a "non-Jennair" replacement no matter where it vents. If you have any sense you will start by not buying a Jennair regardless of how good it looks on paper. ...
