Almost a 5!
4 of 4 Yahoo! Users found this review helpful Ive used the Pioneer DV-F727 for almost two years now for both its CD and DVD capabilities with no problems. Its jukebox capabilities allowed me to load over 200 CDs and a dozen or so DVDs for quick playback. Just as claimed by the manufacturer, the machine will recognize a disk after removal and re-insertion, even if not in the same slot.My TV is a 32 Toshiba and the picture is great. I cant speak to its large-screen digital capabilities, though. The glow-in-the-dark remote is very easy to use, and the variety of outputs should meet all but the most demanding requirements.
Im using an Onkyo THX-compatible receiver powering a Polk RM-6600 5.1 system. The sound is great.
This unit is large, so allow plenty of vertical space, and it will likely hang out the back of all but the deepest entertainment centers. The front-panel PS-2 keyboard/mouse jack comes in VERY handy for naming disks. Id recommend this method instead of using the remote.
The only gripes I have with this unit are minor:
- It only accepts 12 characters for the title and artist. Somewhat annoying in that Pioneer could have simply added more memory to the machine.
- The automatic recognition feature takes a painfully long time when used to update all disks. Use this only at initial setup or after significant changes.
I plan to purchase an identical player to chain them together. Pioneer claims that one unit acts as a master to control the second, displaying up to 600 loaded disks and cross-fading in random modes. ...
