A solid album for the band, but it could be better
Pros: Several memorable songs. Lyrics that make you think.
Cons: Many songs are forgettable and lack the spirit of the band.
I'll keep this short and sweet:
I am a big fan of Chevelle, so I was really looking forward to this new album. I am somewhat disappointed with the album, though. Several of the songs, such as "The Fad" and "I Get It" show that the band has indeed grown since we last heard from them. However, songs like "Paint the Seconds" and "Midnight to Midnight" sound bland, and are barely distinguishable from one another. You get the feeling that songs like that were used as cd fillers. (Try this - load both of the previously mentioned songs into a play list. Skip to the middle of each song and listen for a few seconds - there is very little difference)
The lyrics are what you would expect from Chevelle: mysterious, full of emotion, and sung with passion.
All in all, I give the album 4/5 stars. Good job, Chevelle, but you guys can do much better. ...
