One of My All-Time Favorite Rock Albums Ever
Pros: Most beautifully written songs with incredibly catchy pop rock beats
Cons: the lyrics might depress you at times but fortunately it's not the emo kind of depressing
That Dog is one of the bands I would of loved to see when they were still together. Unfortunately, they all went their separate ways and "Retreat from the Sun" was their final work together. It's really sad when a band created such an incredible album then abruptly break up. This album is considered one of my all time favorites because the songs are quite catchy, appropriate to blast out loud on your stereo, on your headphones, or in the car. This album is fun to sing along to as well. Anna Waronker's song writing may be on the depressing side, about falling in and out of love but the music in this album have created keeps it all up beat and snappy. I'd highly recommend you listen to it from start to finish but I'd consider my favorites to be "I'm gonna see you", "never say never", "being with you", "gagged and tied", "minneapolis"
, "long island", and "hawthorne". If you love Weezer (who they're good friends which I've heard), Green Day, Breeders, Pixies, Superdrag, and Nada Surf, and you haven't discovered That Dog yet, I'd suggest listening to "retreat from the sun". It's a definate must have and a 10/A+ all the way! ... -

One of the Best Albums in 2006
Pros: Great vocals, catchy beats, wonderful melodies, it's a must have
Cons: some of the lyrics can be on the bitter, sad, and angry side
Inara and Greg are an amazing music duo that have crafted an incredibly bittersweet self-titled debut album. I'd recommend listening to "Again & Again", "F*cking Boyfriend", "I'm A Broken Heart", "la la la", "I hate camera", "because", and "prepardness"
. This album is great listening to at home while chilling out since it's sorta soft and melodic. Inara's vocals are so tenderly soft and Greg's talents on the keys make this album one of the finest ever heard in quite a while. The songs will definately be spinning in your head. Once you've heard their music, you'd want to hear more. I saw them in at Tangier with a friend a few years ago and I must say they put on a memorable show. Their backup singer are beautiful too. They do an great cover to the Beegee's "How Deep Is Your Love" which it is unfortunate, it wasn't added on this album. But I still love this album and I hope if you get it, you do as well. ... -

One of the Best Albums of 2002
Pros: Catchy, Well-written, Happy Songs by a gifted songwriter/artist
Cons: No Flaws
Duncan Sheik's "Daylight" is probably his best work filled with many great songs such as "Genius". I'd consider this song one of the best track 1's of all time. This album is filled with wonderfully catchy songs about falling in and out of love such as "On Her Mind", "On A High", "For You". At one of his shows I was fortunate enough to attend, he jokingly mentioned that the great song "Good Morning" was about the President. I'd recommend listening to "Half-Life", "Such Reveries" and "Magazines" as well. "Daylight" is a must get for any listener that loves listening to beautifully crafted songs that are easily to be put on the stereo on repeat. ...

Rufus Wainwright's "Want One" A Grand Rock Album!
Pros: Tender, soothing vocals, Mellow melodies, toe tapping catchy tunes.
Cons: Certain songs might get trapped in your head since its so catchy and melodic.
Rufus Wainwright has a gift for working and releasing such amazing albums filled with magnificent songs that only makes you wish you can be able to create such great music as he has. "Want One" starts off with one of the best track 1 songs "Oh What A World".. Then it moves to "I Don't Know What It Is". My favorites include those tracks as well as "Natasha" and "14th Street". If you'd like to listen to listen to an album to ease all the tension from a stressful day, please give Rufus Wainwright's "Want One" a spin, sit back, relax and enjoy the sweet sounds! ...

One of the Best Sophomore Albums Ever Released!
Pros: Nice, Catchy Sounds, Great lyrics, Bitttersweet Vocals.
Cons: Can get a bit pessemistic, sad, and cynical about life.
Catchy, catchy, and more catchy!! I've heard this album all the way through without skipping any tracks and there seems to not be a sophomore slump for The Format. Their first album "Interventions + Lullabyes" was such an incredible album, and "Dog Problems" is just as great. Love the tracks "Matches" and "She Doesn't Get It". Great album to listen while you're probably cruising the coast. Enjoy! ...

Limbeck "Hi Everything's Great' is So Great!
Pros: Filled with up-beat country-esque rock music!
Cons: No sophomore slump, Limbeck only gettin' better!
"Hi, Everything's Great" was released 3 years ago and just recently I had a lucky chance to see their stunning live performance at Anaheim. The audience wanted to hear "Julia" (Track 3), is such a happy song about a girl who's so smart, and its so damn catchy. Most of the songs in this album have a feel of mid-west country feel, (not to be mistaken with Tim McGraw or Garth Brooks or Brooks and Dunn type of country), more up-beat with nice electric guitar riffs and bitter-sweet lyrics. "Honk + Wave" is probably one of the best rock track 1's. It starts with a lyric, 'She broke my heart in two...' The lyrics sounds depressing, but the music gets you going as in dancing, moving, or singing along. "In Ohio On Some Steps" is a mellow song, where there was a bit of audience participation at that live show I attended. ...

Loved the movie and the soundtrack
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: REM does the score and Jim Carrey chips in and sings a sweet song with Michael Stipe and Tony Clifton!
Cons: There should be more Andy Kaufman Songs and really wanted to hear more songs from REM, Tony and Jim (playing Andy)
If you happen to watch and enjoy "Man on the Moon", you'll also love the soundtrack. I love the songs "This Friendly World" so sad when this song was in the movie, but its such a happy song. Jim can sing and make you laugh in this soundtrack. The instrumental songs such as "Miracle", and the dialogue between Jim and Courtney in "Lynne & Andy", Jim telling the audience about free milk & bcookies in "Milk & Cookies" and the Orchestral version of "Man on the Moon" are great to listen to, makes you kinda sad from the melody but so well put together, even though the songs are short. One of the best aoundtracks! ...

One of Dreamworks Records Best Pop Albums!
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: The Angelic, Sweet, Funky Vocals and Stylings of Nelly Furtado..
Cons: Everyone of all ages love to sing her songs. Songs can be played out.
Pop music is not my cup of tea, but everytime I put in "Whoa...Nelly"
; in the stereo, it makes my head shake and makes my body moving as well as singing along to (Britney Spears even sang to "I'm Like A Bird" while she was cruising down a street in her convertible on the MTV show "The Diary of Britney Spears".) Nelly Furtado's music is infectious, catchy, funky at times, melodic, and fun to listen to.
I swore to my friend the year it came out I wouldn't purchase this album, but a few years later I ended up buying it and I've enjoyed listening to it and if a DJ would ever put her songs at a club, I would probably dance to it. My favorite tracks from this album has to be "Hey, Man!", "...On The Radio", "I'm Like A Bird", and "Turn Off The LIght". ... -

One of the Best Albums of 2001
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: One of the Best First Debut Albums!
Cons: Songs are in Soundtracks, TV shows, everywhere! But that can't actually be a bad thing.
The first time I ever saw Pete Yorn was back in 2000, when he opened for Phantom Planet and Kara's Flowers at the Glasshouse. There were video cameras there for Pete Yorn's performance and I was floored. His music was so infectious that the crowd all wanted more from Pete Yorn's short opening set.
His cover to the Smiths "Panic" isn't in the album but I consider that one of the best covers ever made, "Music For the Morning After" has so many great/sincere/ ...snappy/ catchy/ sad/ happy/ hopeful/ romantic songs and his vocals compare to one of his influences 'The Boss' Bruce Springsteen, and Eddie Vedder.
"Life On A Chain", "Just Another", "Black", "For Nancy", my personal favorite "Murray", "Closet", "On Your Side", "Strange Condition", "EZ", a sweet lullaby song "Simonize". maybe considered one of the best rock albums from 2001!
One of the Best Albums of 2001
Pros: All the songs are bittersweet, hopeless romantic, easy to relate to, honest, and magnificent
Cons: Album is Wonderful yet it'd be great if BFF reunited because they are simply the best together
This album was released on the very same day America will never forget 9/11/01. I remember the day I bought this album and everyone at the store was looking at the tv news. This album is filled with many great songs that's goes through many emotions and stories. "Annie Waits" is simply terrific way to start the album and I'd consider everyone to listen to this album from Start to Finish since all the songs are simply wonderful. "Fred Jones Part 2" is such a sad song yet I'm hooked on listening to it. John Mccrea of Cake does an excellent job at being back vocals for that song. the upbeat songs "zak and sara", "gone", "losing lisa", "rockin' the suburbs" are sure to stick in your head through out the day. This album should be played on a road trip since it simply rocks! The saddest yet heartfelt song from this album has to "The Luckiest", Ben's lyrics are so wonderfully put together in a way where you'd love to recite those line to your significant other. He also puts on amazingly memorable live performances which I was lucky to see him at the Hollywood Bowl last summer opening for John Mayer and Rocco Deluca. "Rockin' The Suburbs" is an album that'll surely cheer you up and make you sad in some ways, but all in all this album has everything that makes it such a pure masterpiece! ...
