Abdul's Best Work To Date
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpful Sadly, the public seemed to be done with Paula Abdul by the time she finally got around to releasing her third album of new material. Or was it just the way Virgin Records marketed the CD?Head Over Heels certainly didn't receive the marketing push that Spellbound did. And that's unfortunate because, although Spellbound is also a great album, this disc is by far the best work Miss Abdul has done.
From the first track, "Crazy Cool", a modest radio hit, right up till the end it is clear that Abdul has grown vocally and artistically.
The schoolgirl-next-door image was good while it lasted but Paula Abdul progressed to an edgier, sexier sound with this disc and she does a very good job with the role. It definitely should have performed better than it did.
Standouts: "Crazy Cool", "My Love Is For Real" (#1 on Billboard's Club Play Chart), "Sexy Thoughts", "Ho-Down", "Under The Influence", "Get Your Groove On", "Missing You", and "It's All About Feeling Good".
It's old news by now, but buy it anyway. You'll be surprised. ...
