PDA I like
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Portability, intuitive
Cons: poor function, abysmal support
I've been into computers for almost 3 decades and am I professional in the business. But, until my wife gave me the Palm Tungsten E2 for Christmas, I hadn't delved into the PDA world.
I did a lot of research on PDA's and quite honestly the Palm operating system wasn't my first choice. You'd think my "choice" was taken away from me when I received the gift. My wife can attest that I am notorious at returning gifts that weren't just right; And this PDA was no exception.
Out of consideration, I played with it. Started using it. And, it surpassed my expectations. I was planning on spending well over double what she did. Surely, it wasn't going to do all I wanted. But wait, it's easy to use and it DOES seem to do all I want. And, lots of software is available for download. If you just use what comes with the Palm, then it's just an expensive calendar and date book with a good sync capability with Outlook. Download some software and this PDA becomes a very useful tool.
I especially like the Pocket Quicken so that I can keep on budget; and the OnTime Rx software that tracks your Prescriptions and alerts you to take meds. Also cool is AvantGo which allows you to subscribe to news.... auto downloading your favorite web-content. You can also download plenty of games, many free such as Sudoku.
It has a good security feature that, if enabled, forces one to type in a password before it enables usage. However, if you don't know the password (i.e. someone found your lost PDA) then it has a place that (if populated by the owner) will provide contact information so that it'll hopefully be returned.
The only problem with it is the same problem you'd have with any PDA. It's so darn easy to misplace. Lucky for me, the alarms eventually guide me to it.
I just love this PDA. It's reliable. It's intuitive to use. I'll likely buy my wife one too. ...
