The Camera works, but it sucks with a Mac
Pros: Good for taking videos
Cons: but what is the point if it is a pain to use on your Mac
The first problem I had was that the videos can only be accessed through their software called Image Mixer 3. (You have no external harddrive that appears on your Mac.) This software has very few features and you have to download each segment. Also, what pains me the most is you cannot delete video segments in the Image Mixer. If you want to clear video space, you have to laboriously go through you cameras multiple menus. If you have taken lots of short clicks, this can be tedious. To make matters worse, when you download the file it is in an MPEG-2 format. This is a pain if you want to edit it in an application such as iMovie. You need to use multiple video conversion formats if you are tired of buying new software that you aren't sure will work. The way I convert MPEG-2 is through iSquint, then MPEG-Streamclips before I can finally use iMovie.
Although the Camera is great as a camera, it is useless if the supporting software sucks.
However, if you just want to take long videos direct to DVD, this is the right camera for you. ...
