What more could you ask for?
Pros: A movie ahead of its time
Cons: (It seems I cannot find a con for this movie)
When I first saw this movie back in 1999, I was instantly hooked on this movie. Most of America came to accept this movie as a movie that no person should go without seeing this visually stunning masterpiece. What is so interesting about this movie is that it seems to keep you looking at the screen because there is always something there that is trying to emphasize the overall feel of the movie. Dark rooms, large explosions, tight areas, sleek outfits, stylish gun battle sequences and amazing martial arts action seem to create a sense of awe that not even the most egotistical reviewer can forget. As I watched this movie last week, the FX look just as sleek as they were back in '99. The movie itself is just as appealing as it was when I first saw it. I cannot seem to get enough of the lobby shootout scene which has to be one of the best action sequences to a rated-R movie ever (Heat cannot top this sequence). I am glad that this movie will be in the archives because it deserves being there. Hopefully thirty years from now, fans of the Matrix can have an appreciation for the trilogy as Star Wars fans have for their trilogy. Why are you still skeptical in buying the movie that started it all? Buy it. It is a movie for the ages. ...

What were they thinking?
Pros: Muliple Smith's and Freeway scene
Cons: Dialogue and expectations of the film when it was released
When I saw this movie in theaters, I was frustrated. The second time I saw the movie in theaters, I was still frustrated. I have seen this movie over two dozen times and you know what? I am still frustrated with this film. What is so flawed with this movie is that the dialogue between any of the characters feels as if they had to force the words out. The Matrix Trilogy will never be known for its eloquent dialogue. This movie, however, just gives this movie the "Worst Dialogue" award for the 2003 movie year. As a result to the terrible dialogue, it seems as if the movie is seven hours long. Another frustration with this film is that the action sequences did not make up for the rest of the movie. I will admit that the fight scene between Neo and Agent Smith is jawdroppingly awesome as well as the Freeway chase scene. The only fallacy to this is that the scences were too spread out and once they came, I was asleep by the time they came. I was hoping the movie was over after the chase scene. The result: another terrible dialogue scene in which the characters try to find the Architect who made the Matrix. Come on Wachowski Brothers...you could have done better. I guess that is what they get when they create a four year gap for them to release the sequel. I expected a lot and they didn't deliver. Rent it. Buy it at your own risk. ...

Better than the second...that is it
Pros: More action and better dialogue than Reloaded
Cons: It just doesnt look as good as the 1st movie
Now any real movie buff will say that this movie was good. The FX are so spectacular that it showed another great thing about these movies: They upped the graphics every time and they looked almost flawless. What is so surprising is that most Matrix fans cannot face the reality that the second and the third movie did not add up to the expectations of the viewers. The whole reason why there was a second and third movie made was the Wachowski Brothers gave in to the fans. They should have just left it at one movie so we wouldn't have had to spend money on two disappointing sequels. They are okay movies, but they just didn't convince me to give them a five star rating. The poor dialogue in the second Matrix convinced me to give it a three star rating because that type of dialogue bogged down the entire movie. The action scenes took too long to get to and it just seemed to never end as a result. The third has more action, less dialogue, and spectacular fight scenes. The final battle between Neo and Smith was a real downer. I have never seen such a disappointing ending to a movie ever. With that aside, it is worth looking at because it is better than the second movie. Just don't be surprised if you feel a little cheated at the end if the movie. ...

Whole lotta creepy
Pros: Keeps you looking until the end
Cons: (still thinking of one)
This movie has to be one of the most underrated films of all time. Mostly everyone I have approached said that they have never heard of this film. So being the nice person that I am, I show this film to them. Their response: Really good!!! When I first saw this movie, I was a little skeptical. I assumed that it was another slasher movie. Once I began to watch it, it seemed more of a thriller than a horror. This is why I loved Frailty so much. One of the best parts to this movie is that the family believes that they are on a mission from God. They have to destroy demons who look exactly like humans. What makes this movie interesting is it begs the question as to whether or not a person is crazy, or fulfilling a requirement from God that only the persons involved understand what they are doing. A normal person may believe that they are crazy. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat and creeps you out. Bill Paxton who directed the film seemed to make sure that it keeps you guessing until the end. A spectacular film!!! This is a film I highly recommend to anyone interested in watching an intelligent film. ...

Slipknot is back and better than ever
Pros: The music
Cons: Doesn't have the heaviness the first two discs had
I am a fan of Slipknot. But putting that aside, I know what albums are worth spending money on. This album is worth the buy. Slipknot in vol. 3 is heavy, fun, and very mature. In their first disc, that was Slipknot at their babied form. They were just coming into the rock scene. What they did with that album was create songs that were intense, descriptive, and great songs to listen to (except for Tattered and Torn). When Slipknot came out with their sophomore release, there was skepticism as to whether or not IOWA would be as a hit as their self-titled album. In fact, IOWA may be Slipknot's least successful album even though the songs contained in the album are a heavier, more advanced version of the nine-man-mutant.
With that aside, this new album VOL. 3: THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES is Slipknot at their prime. With new masks, new music, and an unrelenting determination to get back on the throne that is rightfully theirs, Slipknot is ready to show the world what they are made of. Overall a great album. The lyrics aren't as heavy as the first two discs but the lyrics do not soften the album too much. The music is excellent and is something to be cherished by any Slipknot fan, or a first time listener. ... -

The girl is great but this movie can be forgotten
3 of 5 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Elisha Cuthbert
Cons: Everything else
This movie was not what it said in the previews. Okay, so Elisha is mouth-wateringly gorgious but she is the only character that carries this movie. I wouldn't have minded if we could have seen her naked. If it weren't for her, I would have tossed this DVD at a wall until I vented for spending this money on a movie that just doesn't make any sense. Throughout the entire movie, this kid called Matt seems to make every wrong decision possible and the viewer somehow has to accept it. This kid is a walking trainwreck!!! No way would anyone on this planet react to such an a**hole as Danielle's producer is to this kid. I would have kicked his a**!! Anyway, this movie is worth only looking at Elisha. Nothing else. Don't try to follow the plot or you will get as frustrated as I was at the end of this movie. Rent it. I would not recommend buying it. ...

Is Azkaban worth watching?
11 of 12 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Directorial style and the evolution of the characters
Cons: Complex plot
I have to admit that I have lost track of what has happened in the land of Harry Potter. But when AZKABAN came out, I was intrigued. As I was with the first two, I loved this movie!! I could immediately tell that there was a new director because of how the movie was with the style of the characters in the movie. There seemed to be a lot more joking parts to this movie than in the first two movies. This isn't to say that Columbus, who directed the first two, didn't capture the world of Harry Potter to the degree of this new director. He in fact allowed us to see Harry's world for the first time on the big screen and gave us a worthy sequel. With this new director, he captures the world of Harry just as flawlessly as Columbus did but he had a few drawbacks while making the third film. First, he had to find a replacement for the late Richard Harris who played a wonderful Dumbledore. Second, how to creep us out with those Dementors. HE DID create that creep factor. Third, the material had to be fresh enough to keep children watching and adults watching as well. This new director defeated all of these three feats by making a film that is fun and creepy. This is a wonderful film. The characters are more vibrant than ever. The story even keeps an adult watching to see what happens next. Just because someone is too old to read the book does not mean that someone is too old to see this movie. See it!!! FIVE STARS across the board!!! ...

A movie for the ages
0 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Gut-wrenching, tearful depiction of Christ's last hours
Cons: Extreme violence
Many may be asking why I put "Gut-wrenching, tearful depiction of Christ's last hours" a a pro of the movie. When I first saw the movie, it was rough. The second time I saw the movie, it was rough. But I think this has to be the best after-effect to the film. For believers, this movie may and usually does strengthen their faith. To watch Christ die for the sake of sinners is one of the greatest gifts to receive--but Christ went through a lot in order to save sinners. This is why PASSION will never fade from the movie scene. PSYCHO is a movie everyone knows, and PASSION is going to be another great film to keep in cinema history. Mel Gibson poured his heart into this film and it shows. The acting is superb, the cinematography is something to be cherished, and the story is uncompromising. This is the bible in action. No one should go without seeing this movie. Five stars across the board!! ...

Dead is a Good Remake
Pros: Overall a good movie
Cons: ...
This remake of Dawn of the Dead was a refreshing start to the summer season last year. There weren't that many horror movies out yet and it seemed that this one helped alleviate that problem. The most interesting part to the movie is when it first begins. When the dead begin to take over the world, you become naturally frightened because of the zombie's relentless actions to have full control. The basic idea is the same as the old version where all of the characters end up in a mall, trapped from the rest of the world. Their only relief is a man across the way begins to snipe several of the zombies to keep all of their spirits up. The only problem with this movie is that there are way too many overly serious parts. The movie itself could have had a more joking attitude to it just like the original movie. For the most part, this is a worthy remake that reminds us, the dead could be rising up. Watch out. Four Stars. ...
