Garmin 60csx

Cons: Memory & Reinstalling software.
Overall, I love it.
This is my 3rd Garmin. (Garmin 38 & 12xl) I liked them as well. The first 2 are still being used by relatives. I had a little trouble with the software on one, but Garmin gave me a "no-hassle" exchange.
I got this Garmin 60csx to hike & canoe with. Vehicle use was an additional benefit & I bought the city maps I unexpectedly fell in love with that feature too.
I had some difficulty switching from street to topo maps, so I just change memory chips for each function. The other problem was limited use of installation CD's. I'm a little hard on chips & these are small & fragile looking (but inexpensive). I figured I could always reinstall the map info on a new chip if I damaged them. All the map info on the CD won't fit on most chips (aftermarket chips are MUCH bigger) but you have to pick & choose what maps you want. It seems that Garmin has some use restriction on their Map CD's. I guess if it ever becomes a problem, I'll contact Garmin. They have the best customer service dept I have seen in a very long time. I have little doubt that they wouldn't fix whatever problem I might have. (In the future)
I have 3 hard drives in my computer & occasionally trash my computer "toying with it" Often I have to reinstall (all types) of software if I want to move it from one hard drive to another on my computer.
Satellite reception is quick & very good. City navigation maps are excellent. TOPO's are adequate. Can’t go wrong with a Garmin. ...
