Return To Oz
Pros: Return to Oz, Comfortably Numb, Laura, Can't Come Quickly Enough
Cons: ....
There is a lot to be said about taking a musical note from the "greats" and still be able to pull it off as orignal. Imagine if you took classic Elton John, Pink Floyd, Sylvester and combined them with Euro-pop and Electronica and a myrid of diffrent retro sounds. Well that's what you get with this album and it's definately worth the buy. Their self titled debut is worth putting their signature on. No other band can and will do what the Scissor Sisters do and some of the best tracks include; A danceable version of Pink Floyd's "Comforatably Numb", the funky quirkiness of the UK Top 10 hit "Laura", and the mellow sounds of "Mary". Other notable tracks inclue "Return To Oz", "Can't Come Quickly Enough", "Tits on the Radio", and the crowning jewel "Filthy/
Gorgeous" which shot into the Top 10 all across the globe. ... -

An Album Good Enough to Put Her Name On
Pros: Falling, Surrender, Confide In Me, Put Yourself In My Place, Nothing Can Stop Us
Cons: A stylish album for 1994 but no real cons.
In the early portions of Kylie's career she was ruled hand over fist by Stock, Waterman, and Aiken the trio responsible for the success of Rick Astley. Although their musical formula work for their female counterpart (Kylie)she had grown out of her "smiley kylie" innocent persona and by 1994 she musicly took a giant leap foreward. Her musical tastes began to emerge in her own music. Influenced by her long-term lover Michael Hutchinson (INXS) and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds she kept her self titled album influencial and stylishly pop. This album is loaded with smooth edges that run over your eardrumb like silk. Combining the sophisticated sounds of European Techno of the time along with the trendy R&B sounds of the US pop market this album far exceeds her formative works. This is a must buy for any Kylie fan who is starting a collection and a wonderful listen for any pop fan. ...

This Woman's Work Paid Off
Pros: A Musical Masterpiece
Cons: a very somber and sad song
Included on the phenominal album The Sensual World this particular track is Kate Bush's crowning acheivement of her highly successful career. The tender words of this track will conveys such feeling with tender lyrics and expressive vocals, it captures the very multi-facented essence of the pioneering Kate Bush. The album The Sensual World is a must buy but this e.p. make a wonderful add on to any Kate Bush collection. ...

Little Sparrow
Pros: "Little Sparrow", "The Beautiful Lie", "Shine", Bluer Pastures
Cons: Some tracks are re-makes but all are tastefully done
With the continued Bluegrass theme that started with the back-to-her-roots album Hungry Again and the Grammy Winning The Grass Is Blue, Dolly adds a more somber approach to this album. Filled with heart wrenching tracks like the classic "My Blue Tears", "The Beautiful Lie" Dolly still proves that no one can capture heartache through a song like her. Other fine points of the album includes Cole Porters "I Get a Kick Out of You" and an interesting take on Collective Soul's "Shine", The gospel rendition of "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" Dolly proves that she still has what it takes to stay on top. ...

Supernature
Pros: Ooh La La, Ride A White Horse, Number 1, Koko
Cons: n.a.
With two prior critical successes under their belt and one of the most influental new artists out of Europe, Supernature had a lot to live up to. After a drastic musical turn from their eccentric and beautiful debut Felt Mountain Goldfrapp become golbal pop icons with their dancy sophmore attempt Black Cherry it came as no surprise that the duos third album would have to be an interesting balance to further their success. Supernature achives all critial expectations and passes the test with flying colors. This album continues with the electro-pop elements of Black Cherry and combines the quirky beauty of Felt Mountain with the classiest of deliveries. Ooh La La (the first US crossover hit for the duo) is an exceptional track and is one of the best dance tracks of 2005. A top ten in most of Europe this track is an instant Goldfrapp classic. Ride a White Horse, Koko, and Slide in are the albums most innovative tracks. Not to mention the cool tones of their low beat offerings on the album such as; Let It Take You and Time Out From the World are as soothing as their debut album Felt Mountain. Euro-pop fans will love Lovely to See You,Satin Chic and Number 1 which was a top ten for the duo in the UK in the earlier part of 2006. If you are into Roysopp, Scissor Sisters, Kylie Minogue or dance-pop with an edge, buy this one, you will love it! ...

Extraordinary Machine Indeed
Pros: Extraordinary Machine, Oh Well, Parting Gift, Better Version of Me
Cons: Window, Please, Please, Please
After an almost six year hiatus from her music career Fiona Apple has come back with a vengance with Extraordinary Machine. This album proves that Fiona is no shrinking violet when it comes to her musical ability. Shining with such musical gems such starting with the title track itself. She stuns you with a surprising and somewhat mocking feminine high notes that you have never heard before from the usually agressive Fiona. For the more saged fans you will enjoy "Parting Gift" which eludes to her debut album Tital without being redundant. Other noteable tracks inclue "Waltz (better than fine)" which builds from a docile opening to a jazz band explosion with all the bells and whistles. "Oh Well", "Better Version of Me", "Tymps" and "Red Red Red" bring a nuance to Fiona's musical catalog. This album is a classic and a must buy for all Fiona Fans. ...

The Red Shoes
Pros: Eat the Music
Cons: Lily
With a mind as brilliant as Kate Bush you tend to be harder on the weaker albums than you do the great ones such as Hounds of Love because you expect what you know she's capiable of. Unfortuniately for Ms. Bush when I tell you the Red Shoes is her weakest album I mean it without reservation. Its not that they're not worse albums out there in the world, in fact if you compare it to the rest of the music of the era it's not too bad but it's nothing exeptional. The album has a brilliant baisis and even a movie to go along with the CD by the same name starring the wonderful Miranda Richardso but despite all of the positive steps Kate too to make this project work it will leave you in a lackluster state and it is not a listen that you want to hear all the time. There isn't a sparkling to Red Shoes such as Never For Ever, Nor is there haunting arrangements such as the likes of Hounds of Love, but if you are a die hard Kate fan you might find a place in your heart for it. I ...

Good Juju
Pros: Arabian Knights, Spellbound, Nightshift
Cons: For those more into Siouxsie's more punk efforts this album may be too "goth" for some
Dominating the Goth/Punk scene with a wall of sound Juju doesn't have a weak point in it. The album is laced with tribal drumbs overlaid with high-pitched guitar lines and the over-powering vocals of Siouxsie. Although not as dark Join Hands (the proceeding album) this was the bands most gothic release to date. Bristling with a stormy energy some of the best tracks on this album include "Arabian Knights", "Spellbound", "Monitor", "Voodo Dolly", and "Nightshift" ...
Monsieur Dimitri Joue Du Stylophone
Pros: Retro album full of quirky surprises
Cons: Retro album full of quirky surprises
As much as I miss it french house just isn't like it used to be. This album in particular is one of the best French House albums to ever emerge in the American Market. Overly themed with the scratching sounds of days gone by Dimitri amazingly combines the classic sounds of 70s disco, 60s lounge music and with a dash of post World War II romantisim and turns it into one of the best dance releases of 1998. How does he do it, well it's easier to hear it than explain it. The album is loaded with quirky sound bites and samples that range from excerts from Breakfast at Tiffany's ("Une Very Stylish Fille")to the modern dance beats of 1998. If you are a fan of french house and the late 90s music scene this is one to add to your collection. ...
