The best camera I've used to date (2006)
Pros: image quality, low noise, no crop factor
Cons: no dust reduction like the newest Rebel
This is the best camera I've used to date. Previously I owned a 10d, and I debated to upgrade after Canon announced having big rebates on the 5d. After deciding to give it a try, I was really blown away by the image quality---Wow! At ISO 100, the detail is very rich and the colors are more vibrant and natural compared to the 10d. At ISO 1250 and 1600, the pictures are surprisingly very usable. You will be unable to tell it was shot with such high ISO on a 4x6 print. (I was able to on the 10d at ISO 800) ...

Dyson DC07 All Floors- Yellow Upright Vacuum
Price: $29.99 to $299.99 Compare PricesJuly 31, 2006
Best vacuum I've owned
2 of 2 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Strong suction, nice features
Cons: Pricey, Too strong for rugs, Not the lightest
This vacuum really picks up everything. Our rugs and floors have never been cleaner. The hose and attachments are the easiest I've seen to access. Unloading the dirt to the trash requires just two button pushes.
The carpet setting was too strong for our rugs. At first we thought the vacuum was broken when we heard a crunching sound. It was actually the rug being sucked by the vacuum and the rotating brushes grinding on it. You should use the bare floor setting when this occurs.
The vacuum is the most expensive out there. You could get it as low as $250 (refurb) and as high as $500 for the DC14. ... -

Great camera for the price
Pros: sharp, light, inexpensive, timing w/ slave flash, AA batteries, add-on lens converters
Cons: thicker than the newer cameras, shutter lag, 15 fps video
The picture quality is what you'd expect from a Canon: the pictures are sharp, the colors are pleasing and have the right saturation. The macro feature also works well. Some added bonuses: it takes standard AA batteries, and can it take lens converters. And also, it syncs up with my Vivitar flash.
You'll have to compromise a number of things though, which you'd get with the more expensive Canon compacts: shutter lag is slow, video is only 15 fps, and it's as thick as George Costanza's wallet. The camera also has a plastic feel, unlike the more expensive models.
Despite that, for $150, it's probably one of the cheapest Canon compacts you can get today that doesn't compromise on image quality. ... -

Great webcam
8 of 9 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Small, wide-angle, low-light, mic
Cons: None
The Logitech Fusion is a great webcam to get multiple people in a video chat. It is wide angle, and has a built in mic, so you don't need a headset. The low light quality of the video is better than the cheapo $15 webcams I've seen.
I had the Creative Ultra for Notebooks, but I like the Logitech much better. You can get this as cheap as $59 AR or on sale. ... -

Very good onboard flash
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Light, can be swivled, relatively strong
Cons: no manual controls
I've used this flash many times, and my wife also uses it whenever we take flash pictures. It's small, light, reliable, and swivles left and right as well as up and down, so you can get your bounce correct -- especially when you shoot in portrait mode.
I wish it had manual controls though -- that's what the 520/580 series is for, although it is much bigger and heavier. ... -

Great flash
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Manual settings, strong
Cons: None
If you're looking for an external flash for your pocket digicam, this is the one to get. You'll have to get the digital peanut slave to go along with the flash. You're pictures will turn out wonderful! ...

Good GPS for your hike or your drive
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: You'll never get lost. Can be used for hiking or driving.
Cons: 19mb of memory, slow calculation
I've had this GPS for 2.5 yrs and it works great in the Bay Area, CA. You can change the orientation so you can use it for driving in the horizontal position, or hiking in vertical position. The Garmin maps allow you to plan your course on the PC and then use your waypoint plan when driving. It's great when you're looking for a house.
There's only two things that I wish it had: more memory and fast processor. The processor speed is not much of an issue in the bay area, but when used in L.A., it takes calculates 5 mins to calculate to a destination since the streets are more complex. 19MB allows me most of SF and the south bay up to Monterey county. In LA, I get much less coverage. I would have to reload the maps if I wanted different areas. ... -

Great digital SLR
Pros: Fast, durable, sharp
Cons: none
I've had this camera for 3 years and use it especially for low-light situations, or situations where fast picture taking is required.
Although it is an older model, I have no reason to upgrade to the later 20d model:
- The buffer stores up to 9 continuous shots.
- It's compatible with Canon EOS lenses
- The hotshoe allows me to put an onboard flash
- It has many other features that you see in other digital SLRs: autobracketing, white balance bracketing, custom white balance
- custom functions allow you to reprogram your keys (ie. focusing can be assigned to a different key)
A few things on the wish list (that's not available on the 20d or 5d either):
- wireless ethernet (nikon has this)
- automatic ccd cleaning (olympus i believe has this)
- antishake built into the camera (minolta has this) ...
Overclockable!
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Overclockable!
Cons: There's faster ones out there now
I got this processor about 2 years ago... and have overclocked it the same speed as an x2-4400. Back then, it saved me $500.
