USB 2.0 and Firewire Did Not Work w/ Win 2000
2 of 2 Yahoo! Users found this review helpful I purchased this drive direct from Sony - twice. The first one arrived with a dead power supply. Called Sony - took 30 minutes to convince them it was DOA (I mean totally.) Shipped it back - prepaid! (good), Sony would not replace, had to credit me and re-order. Second drive would not work with Firewire (iLink) under Windows 2000, no matter what computer (all new models) I tried it with, including Gigabyte GA7-VAXP MB(on-board 1394 firewire), Adaptec Fireconnect 4300 board, Dell M50 laptop, Compaq Evo. USB 2.0 also did not work - only USB 1.1. Windows 2000 was totally up to date, with all Service Packs. Same for motherboard drivers and BIOS. Sony tech support: Call your comuter manufacturer. (this was Level 3 tech support!) Shipped it back. No more Sony, ever! Sign me disgusted. ...
