Reliable PC

Pros: good processor, 4 slot ram up to 2G max, lots of usb slots, tv tuner ready, and so much more

Cons: Video card could be better, pc gets really hot after a hard work out, PSU only 295watt

Those that wrote bad reviews on this PC probably don't know how to work a PC correctly. Bought this PC 2 years ago when it was pretty much top of the line. P4E HT 3.0G Processor 800mhz FSB, L2 Cache 1mb , max 2g 4 slot dual channel available...those kinds of specs in 2004 were just too good, granted I could of bought an HP or Dell with similar specs but I wanted Sony, always had good lucks with their products and sure thing I didnt regret it even if Sony wasn't a big PC name compare to others. Now mid 2006 still running the PC in good prime condition-I run it hard too...use photoshop, simulation softwares and database software like Excel alot and once in a while will play a high end graphic game like HL2. And even now the spec for this computer is quite up to date after 2 years. Had 512mb ram to start in 2004 which was okay, but now I maxed it out to 2gigs dual channel 4x512 DDR 400 modules, the stock vcard that came with it an ATI 9250 128mb is outdated and you will want to upgrade to a better one...if you are going to stick with ATI you'd better upgrade to at least an ATI 9600 to X700, anything above an X700 you're pushing your 295w power supply to the limits and beyond which is not good. If you want something more current like the ATI X1300-X1900 than better get yourself a 400w PSU. And it's not easy to find a PSU that will fit a Sony case, most likely will have to move everything to a new PC case. Some bad thing about this pc is that it's an oven, Sony's little case with basically little or no cooling system makes everything hot. Mine consistently have been running at 45-55F which is too hot but somehow to my amazement the pc has never crashed :D, also you would think 160Gigs of HD is ALOT but trust me it's not if you are into media like movies and music and pictures, movies will take up a lot of space and later on you'll wish you had a bigger HD as you realise you've used up 75% of you HD space, change HD or add another one later when it's getting a bit crowded on your HD. All in all an overall good PC, a little bit over priced back then when I bought it, could've gone with Dell or Compact which were a few hundred cheaper but that's how it works if you want a brand name pc like SONY...my next pc will be custom build so I can upgrade components a lot easier and don't have to worry about it fitting in SONY's little mini oven case, also so I wouldn't have to hassle with Sony's incredibly worthless tech support or any other big name support for that matter...all they will say is "We do not recommmend you upgrading any components as it will void any warranty and may damage your PC blablabla". I'm tech sawvy enough to work my way inside a PC so they were of no help. ...
