Best Scorps album ever
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Great songs
Cons: Some weak slide guitar, doesn't fit Scorps' style.
Song for song, this is the best Scorpions album ever! And I don't say that easily. I am a long-time fan who especially loves the albums from LOVEDRIVE to LOVE AT FIRST STING, and I thought this band was over in the 90s. UNBREAKABLE is not only the best Scorpions album ever, it is second only to Judas Priest's ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION as the best Rock album by any classic Rock band in years.
Awesome songs, great production, excellent audio quality compared to other new albums. If you loved the Scorps' in the eighties and started losing interest with the pitiful SAVAGE AMUSEMENT, believe me, Scorpions are back!!! If you don't buy this album, you're making a BIG mistake! ... -

One of the greatest metal guitar albums
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpful The strongest point of this debut album by a band that quickly went nowhere, is the guitar work. Some very blazing leads are shown off. This albums contains one of the greatest rock songs ever, Scratch Like A Cat, which is a masterpiece. Other standouts include Dead of Winter and Broken City. Definitely one of the heavier albums of the period. Large Guns N Roses influence shown. Consider your hard rock collection inferior if you dont have this one. ... -

Not enough ear candy
While waiting for the release of "Zoom" I imagined Jeff Lynne regaining passion for the original E.L.O. formula. I'd hoped the new album would feature the qualities that made E.L.O. such a success in the 70's: The amazing "ear candy" passages like backward messages, orchestral and choral interludes, all album tracks tied together by a common theme, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: songs built around cellos and violin. Well, "Zoom" doesn't have any of those things. There are virtually no violins or cellos anywhere. There is NO interludes or "ear candy" anywhere on the album. It's thirteen songs, all running between three and four minutes, and most of the songs are guitar-based instead of violin/cello-based. The fact that Jeff Lynne would put together a bunch of songs and call it E.L.O. without using the ingredients that made up the orginal vision of E.L.O. is a big disappointment. This should referred to as a Jeff Lynne solo album. So, why did I give it four stars? Because the songs are VERY GOOD. The entire album is very like-able. So, in other words, even with all the things lacking in this album, it's still better than most of the crap being recorded today. But Bev Bevan's E.L.O. Part Two sounds more like classic E.L.O. than Zoom does. ...
From a REAL Megadeth fan
2 of 2 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: True Mega-Metal
Cons: Dave Ellefson not there
I can't believe there is a user review on here from someone who calls themself a Megadeth fan who proceeds to slag this album and offers to sell it to you cheap. That is obviously a bogus review, because SYSTEM HAS FAILED is one of the best Megadeth albums EVER!! I am a true Megadeth fan who has been along for the ride since KILLING IS MY BUSINESS, and SYSTEM is not going to disappoint many long-time fans. Too bad Dave Ellefson is gone, but this album proves Dave Mustaine really IS Megadeth. After I heard the album I almost forgot Dave isn't on it. Killer riffs, plenty of speed, also melodic diversity, heavy, good production. 92 out of 100. ...
