Good Starter Guide, Poorly Edited
Pros: informative
Cons: repetitive
I just finished reading this book today, and I was very impressed with the wide variety of info that the book presented, but I was disappointed by the poor writing style. This book is very useful to teens making their first film, but less useful for more experienced filmmakers. It outlines basic concepts and lists equipment needed for low and higher budget films.
Unfortunately, despite the sound information, the entire book reads like it was only edited once with a word processor's spellcheck. Several words are misspelled/misused, and information is needlessly repeated.
In conclusion, I would reccomend this as a beginner book to any teen who wanted to start making films. It's inexpensive, provides useful advice, and is a fast read, despite the poor writing. ...
Not Your Average Camera
7 of 7 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: lots of features, came with editing software
Cons: none so far
I got this camera for Christmas last year after it was recommended to me by a proffessional filmmaker. He said it was a good starter camera for someone new to, but serious about, making movies. It was fairly inexpensive, had a lot of features, and was easy to use. And, to my delight, all he said was true! This camera was ready to use right out of the box and has proved its versatility and usefullness ever since. While it may be overkill for simple home movies, it is excellent for anyone who wants to make semi-pro shorts within a reasonable budget. I will be using mine for years to come.
I don't really know what the customer support is like because I haven't needed it yet! ...
