Get the LS-3200A instead
6 of 6 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: good user interface. convinent resolution/format switching
Cons: bad HD signal reception, needs reboot every other day
I got this receiver from circuit city deal, mostly because the many outputs that I can choose. The user interface is quite friendly and the HDTV quality is quite good (when it works!).
This model is quite sensitive to the ATSC signal, when I connect it to the indoor antenna, even I was 7 feet away from it, any movement I made could potentially break the signal.
And then there is a problem with DirecTV, they downloaded some updates to this receiver that cause it to drop direcTV service from time to time. I have to press the reset button to get the service back on again.
After complaining to them, they now gave me a comparable model (LSS-3200A) from LG/Zenith. It's ATSC turner works much better then this model with the same indoor antenna I have. And the direcTV HD channels also looks pretty good.
If you are planning to use indoor antenna with this receiver, forget it. Get the LSS-3200A instead. ...
Good receiver
Pros: Excellent ATSC tuner
Cons: best used with 16:9 screen, no local channel guide
My prevous receiver is Samsung SIR-TS360, you can see my review about that receiver.
The specification of these two models are almost the same. But this model has a much better ATSC tuner. while the Samsung model drops images a lot when I use a indoor antenna, this model never drops a single second during the entire baseball game I was watching last night. (We did it, Red Sox #1)
The user interface is somewhat more difficult to use then the TS-360, maybe I just need to get used to it. The TS-360 can also retrive local HD channel programming guide from direcTV, but this model can't. So if you want to know what's on TV, you have to check your TV guide. Hope there is a way to update the firmware or something to include this funcationality. ...
