Christina's Evolution is Musically Beautiful
Pros: still soulful, gave homage to those before her
Cons: can't say that I have any
Each album that Christina does gets better and better and shows her musical growth. My favorite one by her will always be "Stripped" because so many of the lessons/pains she has gone through most people can universally relate to--but unlike a lot of artists whose talent seems to go by the wasteside once they are in love, Christina's style has become more versatile and her musical reportoire enhanced. Worth every penny! ...

Different Side of Luda
Pros: get to see more of his serious side
Cons: majority of the tracks i didn't really like
I've always loved Luda's play on words and his mixture of comedy and truth. I was excited to get Luda's Release Therapy because I knew there would be a different side of him to see. The first few songs continued to show his versatility in lyrics, and a few of the songs I can feel and relate to, but that's where the excitement ends....I still love Luda, but if you can, just get a copy of those songs you like and just leave the rest on the shelf. ...

She's Back & I'm Glad
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Shows maturity through her experiences
Cons: Wish there was more songs/more creative bats
Although there is usually a big break between Monica CD's, it is always worth the wait. I wish that it had more songs because the CD from start to finish is rich in content--beats not all that original, but because a lot of the songs I could relate to and see the lessons, I can ignore some of the monotony. Welcome back, Miss Thang! ...

Still Good but Not What I Expected
Pros: The versatility in music style
Cons: a few instances of sampling
I have always been a big fan of Toni Braxton. When she first came out with her debut, I loved the depth of her voice...it reminded me a lot of Anita Baker in a way. I have also always loved the content of her songs--like the things she sings about I can relate to in lots of way, so I was excited to see her come out with a new CD--I definitely like the funky ambiance of "Please."
But sadly enough, that is one of the strongest songs on there--almost the only one. I didn't really like the sampling in one of the songs--didn't seem to quite fit with the ambiance that should have been conveyed in the song.
Content wise--overall pretty strong; a decent showing but not the same Toni I grew up with on her debut and on Secrets--I think those two will always be my favorite by her. ...
20 y.o.--a big dud
2 of 3 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: had hints of vintage janet
Cons: is that her creativity or dupri's
I am very glad that I listened to someone else's copy of 20 y.o beforehand. Otherwise, I would have made the biggest purchasing mistake of my life.
I love Janet--stuck by her through Nipplegate, her weight loss, the whole nine. I even applaud her romance with Jermaine...they seem wonderful for each other. However, I feel there is too much of Jermaine's creativity in this one and not enough of the Janet I love.
The Call on Me collabo with Nelly was whack. The only song I really love is So Excited. Everything else lacks the creativity and the lyrical versatility that I know she has.
Maybe instead of morphing herself into what's popping today, she should go back into what initially made her an icon in the first place. ...
