Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu on Xbox
Pros: great cutscenes, nice voice acting, different combat styles for each characters
Cons: too repetitve, some extras aren't worth the trouble (models of different action figures?)
I grew up on the Batman cartoons, so naturally I would gravitate towards anything that would resemble it (loved Batman: Vengeance). So when I bought RoST, I was thinking that it would be a sequel to it. Boy was I wrong.
The story picks up after Vengeance, and it starts with a riot at Arkham Asylum, and playing as Batman (or either one of his sidekicks, Nightwing, Robin, or Batgirl) you clean up the streets on your way to Arkham, and meet the Scarecrow. Afterwards Batman hears about a new villain named Sin Tzu. And it goes downhill from there. And as Batman or one of his understudies, you go on to fight Clayface, Bane, and finally Sin Tzu, himself, with some funky mind control power.
The graphics are pretty and lifted straight from the cartoon, with the voice along for the ride. The controls, however, are shallow, with basic kicks and punches, if pressed correctly perform a combo. You know, for a master martial arts, Batman sure doesn't use alot of moves. At least in Vengeance you are able to do other things like drive the Batmobile, or fly the Batplane. I would recommend as a rental, you know something to do on a rainy day, maybe find some codes and enjoy watching the cutscenes, but as far as gameplay goes, this doesn't have much to offer. ... -

The Guy Game Game on Xbox
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Often very funny commentary, some very pretty girls topless
Cons: the "flash-o-meter&quo
t; gauge is very frustrating Okay, so this game is just a ploy for a studio getting easy money, cause what do lonely young men like better than boobies, why video games featuring boobies, of course.
And like those lonely suckers, I bit (but it's a rental, ha-ha! I'm so lonely).
Basically, what the game boils down to is this, a quiz show, in which the contestants are pretty, young girls called "hotties" (possibly drunk) are asked questions ranging from easy to "who the hell knows that?" by a host (definitely drunk). They get it wrong, they flash the camera (you). The players have to guess if the answer the girls give are wrong, or how wrong they are by guessing which answer they'll give. The more you guess correctly, the more the flash-o-meter fills up until you get a clear view of the goods. Then if you fill the flash-o-meter, you get to see a bonus game in which the hotties participate in physical challenges like topless jumproping, topless hula hooping, etc., etc.
Since the game is mostly video clips, the graphics are really not important, as with the sound. The controls basically consist of pushing which button is the correct answer. Really, if you must play this game, I suggest getting some buddies together, get some beer, otherwise it's kinda sad. (If you're under 21 don't drink, if you're under 17, you shouldn't play the game anyways, it'll warp you're fragile little mind.) If you just wanna see boobies, get a copy of Girls Gone Wild, it'll be easier and cheaper. ... -

The Punisher on Xbox
Pros: the special kills and interrogations are cool, cameos from other Marvel characters, story lifted from Garth Ennis' run
Cons: rag doll physics (never been a fan of it), enemy AI is nonexistent, camera wasn't the best
I've been a Punisher fan for a long time, and when I heard about the game, I was excited, and when I heard about the interrogation system, I thought "cool, something that would make the game unique". Then I read some reviews, and the critics were mostly lukewarm about it, saying that the enemies were too easy to kill and there were too many of them, the word "pointless" has been thrown around. So I went out and rented it (cause I ain't got no damn money).
I did find the game extremely enjoyable, mostly from the story, lifted from the Garth Ennis run on The Punisher comics, which straddles the line of very grim, to very funny. And I did like the interrogation system, but the critics were right about the bad guys (although I played it on Easy mode, otherwise, I'd still be stuck on the docks rather than beating it).
The graphics are good, but not great by today's standards (like Soul Calibur 2, or Resident Evil 4). I liked the voice acting by Thomas Jane (the dude who played Punny in the movie), and some of the voice acting by the other characters were pretty good, too. As far as the controls are concerned, I did fumble with them at first, but after a while they did become pretty intuitive.
It seems the game is aimed at a certain demographic of players, the comic book fans. No doubt the Marvel zombies will dig appearances by Daredevil, Iron Man, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Kingpin, and Bullseye. I know I did. But some players might be put off by the game seeming too short or too easy. I would recommend renting if you are a casual comic book fan, but the Marvel fanboys (like me!) would have a lot of fun with their own copies of it. ...
Armed and Dangerous on Xbox
1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: hilarious story, an original assortment of weapons
Cons: graphics are a bit rough
Here is a game that is truly original in concept. Filled to the brim in British humor and firepower, I'm pretty sure there will never be a game like it.
You take control of a character named Roman the leader of a rebel group named the Lionhearts, which consist of a giant mole with anger management issues, a tea drinking robot/walking teapot (with a very, um, inaproppriate spot for a spout), and an insane, blind old man, with strange powers, ooohh creepy (okay, it's The Force). As Roman you lead the Lionhearts through lands populated with enemy soldiers in order to liberate a kingdom from the grip of an evil king and his dim-witted son. Along the way, you save sheep from being blown up, rescue peasants and drag them home, accidently kidnap the prince, then later circumcise him (don't ask), visit a leper colony, and there is much, much, more. And a truly inventive bunch of weapons, like the Land Shark Gun, which shoots actual sharks at the bad guys.
The graphics are ok, the background looks great but the characters are a little rough. The voices do a great job with a script that seems like it was written by Monty Python after a night of binge drinking. The controls are smooth and intuitive. You should buy this game, now! ...
