    My Favorite Hitchcock Thriller

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 20, 2000 | 1 out of 1 found this Vertigo (1958) review helpful

I must certainly agree with both Alfred Hitchcock and everyone else who has seen "Vertigo" over the years. It is definitely the master's best picture. James Stewart's John "Scotty" Ferguson was a believable obsessed character battling a fear of heig...hts, while Kim Novak's double role of Madeline/Judy provided all the mysterious twists and turns the movie needed. The Bernard Hermann score was beautifully put to music to fit the mood of the film. The special effects were excellent as well. It was too bad that critics in 1958 didn't think much of this now regarded masterpiece when it was released...they thought it was just another Hitchcock thriller. It was only after "Vertigo" was taken out of the Universal Pictures vaults that Hollywood began to realize how precious this film was, and decided to digitally restore the movie to its previous, first-rate quality. Bravo to the researchers and all who worked to restore my favorite Hitchcock thriller...Long, live "Vertigo." Read more Less

    Another Hitchcock classic!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 6, 2001

This film stars James Stewart as a retired San Francisco detective who is hired by an old friend to find the reason behind his wife's (Kim Novak) recent erratic behavior. Also stars Barbara Bel Geddes. This is a superb film with first rate performanc...es by all of its actors, breathtaking California scenery, a surreal nightmare sequence and a nice music score. This classic film would make a fine addition to any film collection. Buy yours today! Read more Less
