The Samsung HP-S5053 is a revolutionary 50" Plasma TV that boasts Samsung's new exclusive FilterBright (MRT Technology) - a patented daylight filter, which absorbs external light as it approaches the plasma panel and transmits internal light increasing the contrast levels and preventing unwanted reflection. In bright surroundings the FilterBright daylight filter creates high contrast (10.000:1 contrast ratio) with pure black to show clearer image details and generate superb industry-leading dark area representation. This innovative plasma TV also features a true 16:9 cabinet to match the picture and convenient side A/V jack (S-video Composite headphone) for easy connection of A/V external devices. It also features a harmonious design with stylish black and silver design integration between the display and remote control. The TV features two HDMI inputs, two composite inputs, a built-in ATSC/NTSC tuner with PC input, two 15-watt speakers with SRS TRUSurround XP.     Pros: Very intuitive

    Cons: sound quality

    Great viewing angle. No glare.Self compensating brightness to room light. Looks great on the wall. The HD channels, especially ESPN and Discovery make it all worth it. This TV is a great value. I use my own 5.1 sound system so its internal sound isn&...#39;t an issue. Read more Less

    I bought this plasma tv at best buy, just about when they were closing for the night, got a good deal with it. Bought a Samsung up-convert dvd player too with 1080i and plays 10 different formats. the monster HDMI cable is very expensive, a cable f...or $120, geee!!! Anyway, so far, the screen is nice, i had a LCD tv and i like the plasma more, more vivid and at the same time if you set it in movie mode, the hues are great, smooth and easy to the eyes. The HP-S5053 has its speakers hidden, and the finish is a deep piano black, i like it alot. got a nice channel manager too but the sounds are just basic - just OK, so i connected it to an optical audio cable to the Extigy 5.1 digital EAX HD, so far, I'm happy with it. What I dont like or wished they had it for this TV is a digital zoom for the tv itself, the samsung dvd has a digital zoom - fit to screen , etc, and it's nice but when you watch regular tv, you're stock with whatever format the station got, especially with digital tv broadcasts.
