Cartoon Network Speedway Game Boy Advance

The first in a planned series of titles based on the Cartoon Network license, Cartoon Network Speedway is a kart racing game featuring a choice of 12 offbeat characters competing on 12 themed courses. Playable characters are from such properties as Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Johnny Bravo, Sheep in the Big City, and Cow and Chicken. Three modes of play include Quick Race, Championship, and Challenge, which supports the Game Link Cable for head-to-head racing against a friend.

Each of the courses is modeled after a Cartoon Network show and features interactive elements such as speed-boosting zippers, obstacles, jumps, drops, and slippery surfaces. Players must navigate the courses using a variety of stunts to earn "oohs" and "aahs" from the audience and increase their popularity. By finding a shortcut or initiating a power slide, players can increase their star ratings to help unlock bonuses, such as extra tracks, characters, and championships.

Cartoon Network Speedway also offers an assortment of 15 power-ups to use on opponents. Players will be able to drop portable holes, activate disposable shields, unleash the dreaded wiener missile, blast ahead using lightning wheels, fire custard pie mines, and more. Each character also has a hidden personal sidekick, such as Johnny Bravo's Little Suzy, who automatically enhances a vehicle's attributes once found. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
