    From the opening selection, "Reunion," and one knows The Benoit/Freeman Project, by former Rippingtons David Benoit and Russ Freeman, is sure to be a success. Throw in Kenny Loggins on "When She Believed in Me" and Phil Berry and Vesta in a reincarnation of Earth, Wind Fire's "After the Love is Gone," and one has the makings of a long-time favorite. This contemporary jazz production exposes a rhythmic synergy between Benoit and Freeman that powers the music, culminating in "Smartypants," an almost improvisational jazz piece...

Russ Freeman

Guitarist Russ Freeman originally conceived of the Rippingtons as a changing lineup of strong contemporary jazz musicians.
