    Front Row DVD is OK/Paramount excellent

    there are several DVD issues of "Zulu", except for the Paramount 2002 issue they are all bad. One of the best of the cheap issues, and the one I refer to is issued by Front Row Entertainment. Both picture and audio is OK for a cheap DVD. The main pro...blem with the picture is the effect of flicking where there shuld be straight lines. The colours are quite washed out and in comparison to the excellent quality of the paramount DVD they hardly exist. The picture are slightly cropped at the sides.The audio is not the greatest, but not as bad as some low price editions offer. There is hiss, but no crackle. It is in mono and very flat, quite sad for a movie of this kind.I would go for the paramount DVD, but for $5 or below, this could be worth a try. I rate the Front Row DVD 1.5/5 and the Paramount 4.5/5The film is ofcourse marvelous! 5/5 Read more Less

    An Incredible Movie!

    A true story of approximately 100 gallant British soldiers fighting hopelessly against several thousands of Zulu warriors. The fighting started 20 to 30 minutes into the movie and would keep you sucked in till the end. The DVD quality is acceptab...le but not great. But for the price of $6, this is a steal.     Made when Hollywood really knew H.O.W., unlike N.O.W. --- writing, casting, acting, narrating, directing, filming, editing --- all superb. Squirrely Caine, tough as nails Baker, Hawkins is brief but great, Burton is The Voice. Why can't screen Indi...ans act as well as Zulus?!? Read more Less

    I feel like I shouldn't complain too much about this DVD, since it only set me back $6. Just be warned that it's a really cheap print, not much better than VHS, and no special features, except for ads for other really cheap DVDs. It's sad that such... a cool movie has been consigned to the bargain basement shelf..no one takes this film seriously enough to put out a fat, loaded "collector's edition" that it deserves. Is it worth $6? Definitely...for the cost of a sandwich, you can own one of the butt-kickin'-est war movies ever. But someone out there owes us fans of Zulu a much more conscientious DVD version of this film. Read more Less

    While doing some Christmas Shopping at Media Play, I ran across ZULU on DVD both in Full Screen and Widescreen formats for under $10.00. I purchased the Widescreen version. The film looks and sounds great, but the DVD itself has very few features an...d is divided into only 4 scenes. Despite the poor extra features, at $8.99 this is a steal.The DVD is produced by Diamond Entertainment, Cerritos, CA and features Dolby Digital Sound. Read more Less
