Before Midge Ure joined the Rich Kids and Ultravox, he was in a band called Slik; after Ure's departure, two members of Slik -- keyboardist/vocalist Billy McIsaac and drummer Kenny Hyslop -- joined forces with guitarist/vocalist Willy Gardner and bassist Russell Webb in the Zones. the Zones' only LP, 1979's Under Influence, ran the gamut of pop/rock styles popular at the time in Scotland -- straight pop, new wave, reggae, and rock roll. Webb later joined fellow Scottish band the Skids.
