Beginning in the early '80s, percussionist Z'ev (b. Stefan Weisser) pursued an early, highly experimental vein of industrial music, creating harsh, noisy, ultraloud soundscapes that favor sonic texture over recognizable musical structure. Z'ev's work influenced many other early industrial bands, including Test Dept. and Einstürzende Neubauten, and he has performed as a featured musician in Glenn Branca's Symphony No. 2.
