A JPop artist who was the object of a label bidding war at audition, Yui started off as a teenage poet, before taking music and voice lessons and working her way up to pop star. A singer, songwriter, and guitar player, Yui released her first fulllength album (From Me To You) in February of 2006. The albums was a hit, reaching number four on the charts, and was accompanied by a number of hit singles. Her second album, Can't Buy Me Love, was an even bigger hit, reaching the number one spot. 2007 found Yui reaching even more milestones in JPop, releasing a live DVD, and selling out the Nippon Budokan. In February of 2008, Yui released "Namidairo," her 12th single.
