Pros: Great extras, commentary, digitalized
Cons: Nothing
I grew up on this movie and there is no bad thing to be said. All the actors were in ther prime and the casting is perfect; timing is everything. It may be a bit on the raunchy side for younger viewers if they are unfamiliar with the Frankenstein history and Mary Shelley. However, that should not deter a genuine interest. Many comedic one-liners make this a true gem. Dialogue has spunk and I respect the effort that it took to get this film made.
Pros: Just very funny
Cons: None, I think
This is just a clasic movie, A must have for any movie collector. Dry humor and sexual suggestion are around every bend.
"Fancy a roll in the hay, Doctor?"
"Why yes that would be lovely"
"Roll, roll, roll."
Pros: The Picture gave me a great laugh on a "touchy" subject
Cons: One has to keep the brains that God gave one!
I liked the performances of all the actors and actresses involved in the film.
The special effects were appro pos, or something. (Need some more of those "crunchy granola bars").
A horse is a horse, and I wounldn't want Frau Blucher anywhere near mine!
Everyone desires solitude at one time or another, though hopefully at the time and place of one's own choosing.
Even at Midnight, we may sometimes see into the light. A lot of electric traffic out there.
First saw the film as a first run at Mayland Cinema, Mayfield Hts., Ohio in 1974.
Wish the best to Gene Wilder. My condolences and heartfelt sorrow at the passing of Gilda Radner. Some folks will attempt to hide almost or even unbearable pain from their loved ones.
Hope that you like "Point of Know Return". My sentiments exactly, except for that dumb car commercial.
You know the one, from the people who brought us Pearl Harbor.
A man has to say what he feels, and don't get me wrong I love
This movie is hysterical! Our family watches it only once a year on Halloween. There are so many good liners (Frau Blucher ^Neigh^) (Her name was "Abby Normal") and 'goof ups'. This is a must have movie! And it does "Put on the Ri-i-i-tts!"
MEL BROOKS !!!!
Mel's 1970's comedies were brilliant !
History of the World,Silent Movie,Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein can stand beside todays comedic efforts and give Us more laughs than any of them.If You haven't seen them do Yourself a favor and try them.
My ranking ;
1-Young Frankenstein
2-History Of The World
3-Blazing Saddles
4-Silent Movie
5-The Producers
ENJOY !!!!!!!!
In 1974, Mel Brooks gave his mighty one-two punch as actor, writer, and director (which he did all superbly) with two big hits - "Young Frankenstein" and "Blazing Saddles." Both had memorable characters, lots of uproarious laughs, and as for "Frankenstein," who can ever forget Gene Wilder's Frankenstein getting Peter Boyle's clumsy, inarticulate monster to dance to "Putting On the Ritz?" This monster hit, along with "Saddles," will always be gems I could watch forever and ever and ever.
My favorite Mel Brooks movie. A hilarious combination of slapstick scenes, double entendres and innuendos. Includes usual Brooks characters Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn. Peter Boyle is brilliant as the monster. A must-see for the Brooks fan; if you didn't like Spaceballs or Blazing Saddles, you still should enjoy this movie.
It does not matter how old this movie is and what it will become, it will always be remembered as one Mel Brooks' classic movies along side Blazzing Saddles & To be or not to be. Unfortunately Brooks cannot muster the same effect as he used to have on everyones funny bone, including my own; as much as I want him too. The fact that it is shot entirely in B/W just goes to show its own self confidence that it can carry itself off without the use of color. Classic perfomances by Gene Wilder and Terry Garr (aswell as Marty Feldman) make this a comedy masterpiece never to be repeated, especially the cameo scene with Gene Hackman, classic acting, writting and directing. This movie will always make me laugh and without the aid of any 'uppers'...
This film by Mel Brooks should have topped the AFI list. It's the funniest movie I've ever seen. I would welcome a Travolta-esque comback for Gene Wilder.
With numerous stars this black & white comedy will keep you laughing.
