  • All Music Guide

This 16song compilation out of the Czech Republic is a handy overview of the Treniers' work, starting as it does with "Buzz Buzz Buzz", cut for Mercury in early 1947, going up through their brief stay on London ("Everybody Get Together"), interspersed with sides credited as Milt Trenier solo releases ("You're Killin' Me"), right up thru the 1956 RCAissued "Sorrento". The sound which has been treated with CEDAR processing is amazingly crisp and consistent, with only minor surface noise on the pretape source material, such as "Ain't She Mean" to mar some of the playback. But considering the diversity of sounds here, from 40's harmony rb in the manner of the Mills Brothers to the more jumping style of the 1950's, those flaws can be overlooked, at least until someone comes up with an official box set devoted to this group and to Milt Trenier as a solo artist.
