    RAY CONNIFF MAKING EVERYTHIG GREAT!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 30, 2006

Pros: ALL OF THE SONGS ARE INCREDIBLES!!

Cons: NOTHING IS BAD ON THIS CD!

I was chosen this cd for a long time, and then I found it; i love this album, for me is one of the best orchestral arrangements a ever heard in my life; I like all the songs but my favourites are "caravan" and "Frenesi" (the final... of the album is simply marvellous!); only master ray could do this brillant work and I don´t know why this great cd is out of print (I knew that in the Ray´s website); I wish it will be in the market again... If you have the chance to have it, DON´T LOSE THE OPPORTUNITY!! Read more Less

    Eclectic Background Music

Altho this may seem like a guilty pleasure for some people (like myself) I actually enjoy listening to this music -- that's what I get growing up with my grandparents. Nevertheless, I think of this music as early-morning-coffee music, manifesting a ...light quality to the vocals as well as being vigorous in its arrangements. "My Old Flame" is definitely a classic (done by Conniff or Spike Jones) and "What Kind Of Fool Am I" is rendered in a facile mode. Good reading music, too. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: You Make Me Feel So Young

  • All Music Guide

You Make Me Feel So Young is an unusually brassy and bombastic outing for Ray Conniff. The material is a hodgepodge of pop and jazz standards and a few film themes. Conniff graces the disc with one of his rare clavietta solos on "My Old Flame," while "An Affair to Remember" provides an uncharacteristic showcase for Ernie Hughes' piano. The mood varies from track to track, but practically all of them are punctuated with loud bursts of horns and wordless vocals from the chorus. Perhaps Conniff's style here intends to convey the energy and exuberance of youth. Whatever the case, aside from an interesting arrangement of Duke Ellington's "Caravan," You Make Me Feel So Young is not as artistically successful as Conniff's more contemporary-sounding efforts from around this time.

After he wrote the charts for several sizeable Columbi... Read more
