You Can't Resist - Patricia Conroy

Pros: One of the most overlooked musical gems in my opinion...

    Cons: none

I just saw Patricia Conroy in concert on July 13, 2004, and she was so fabulous that I've been listening to her CDs again ever since! I bought this album (You Can't Resist) in 1997 after hearing "I Don't Wanna Be The One" on th...e radio, but almost EVERY song on it is great - Keep Me Rockin', Diamonds, What Else Can I Do, You Can't Resist It, Crazy Fool - and upon closer inspection, I was really impressed that Ms. Conroy wrote or co-wrote some of these songs.Seeing Patricia live and then listening to her albums again (Bad Day for Trains is another good one) made me wonder why she never made it big in the U.S. Her voice is powerful, but with a sweet quality (like Nancy Wilson's of Heart), and her songs are catchy and melodic. I'm wondering if it's the "dated" hairstyle on the cover of this album that didn't help sell more of them. Patricia looks SO stylish these days it makes me wonder if she would have sold more CDs with a different album cover? Regardless, even though this CD came out a while ago, it still sounds modern in 2004. This music will appeal to both fans of country and rock music. Read more Less
