First of all, let's put some expectations to rest: this is not the comeback album you might be hoping for from Terre Thaemlitz. On the contrary, You? Again? sees onceAmerica's answer to Continental Europe's ambient techno craze revisit his work from the late ‘90s and early 2000s. This 70minute album consists of remixes and alternate edits of cuts originally produced by Thaemlitz for himself, one of his aliases (Chugga, for instance), or other artists signed to his own Comatonse label. The album opens and ends with remixes of Chugga's "Theme for the Buck Rogers Light Rope Dance" and that sets the tone for most of the set. If you were hoping for some of the man's experimental, forwardlooking music, look elsewhere, as You? Again? sticks mostly to the dance floor. There are two notable exceptions to that rule: Social Material's "Class," which is very lateperiod Art of Noise, and Terre Funk Shui's "Superbonus," a superb 12minute doublebassdriven flight through the chillout room. The rest o...f the material has its moments but quickly becomes generic. Most of the ten tracks had already been released on Comatonse, except "Superbonus" (an unreleased edit), and two demos and reedits taken from the sessions for G.R.R.L.'s 1997 selftitled effort. - François Couture, All Music Guide Read more Less
