Pros: Easy to set up,calibrator works wonders

    Cons: gets very hot

I lucked out and bought this receiver on sale at 6ave for $1095.00. It is very easy to set up and the gui is very user friendly. It comes with the microphone to calibrate your system and works wonderfully. I could tell a huge difference in the sound ...quality. The biggest difference that I found was with my subwoofer. This receiver can handle up to a 7.1 channel system but I'm only using it at 5.1. Hooked up to the receiver I have two Definitive Technology two BP 7004, C/L/R 2500, two BPVX, and Supercube II for my subwoofer. Wathing a movie in Blue ray is unbelievable now. It is better than an theatre as popcorn does not cost me $10.00 anymore. Also, the four HDMI imputs to one output is very nice. There is no more switching between external device channels to watch differnt devices. I have a Playstation 3 hooked up to my HD DVD and HD Directv hooked up to the receiver. Anyone looking for a great Blue-ray DVD player, PS3 is the way to go. Sony does a great job with updates that I download via wireless router. The movies and sound are down right incredible and the PS3 will not get outdated as you can download the updates from Sony. The only cons I have really come across at this point, 3 months now, is that this unit definitely needs to be stored in an open area or with good ventilation. I have a glass door that I keep open as this receiver gets really hot. Secondy, I do not see much improvement with the upconversion. I watch mostly HD programming anyway so I might be biased to the picture quality. Read more Less
