Pros: The same, yet different. Better. More Mature.
Cons: None
I had high expectations for this album, after Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head how could you not, and I was thrilled that it lived up to each and every one of them. It's so rare that a person will enjoy EVERY track on an album, and when that happened with the prior two by Coldplay, I knew they were something special. Well, they did it again. I hear a lot of the influences mentioned by the band themselves, as well as other reviewers and music critics, but I also hear some Beatles particularly with the harmonization on Fix You and the ending of What If. Chris Martin's voice really is like another instrument. It's absolutely haunting and beautiful. He, Will, Guy and Jonny are amazing musicians -- the whole is so much more than the sum of its parts. They said they were striving to be the world's best band, and whether they meant it or not, they are well on their way. I can't wait to see them in concert. Until then, we have to make do with the Live 2003 CD and DVD, whatever clips can be dug up on the internet (AOL has a great amount of videos and live sets), and the repeats of their MTV and VH-1 Storyteller specials. This is an album for everyone. I haven't been obsessed like this in years. I love it!!!!! ...
Pros: Worthy third album that rivals its predecessor
Cons: Stays true to the formula of "A Rush of Blood to the Head"
Thanks to the relentless punch of the publicity machine, we all know that Coldplay now has a new album, and as it happens, "X & Y" turns out to be a good one. It's been a wild ride for the English band. Since their 2002 "A Rush of Blood to the Head," Coldplay have turned into international superstars, often inviting comparisons to U2 (and the comparisons are fairly accurate, as far as this reviewer is concerned) and developing a diverse mix of fans. Coldplay's latest album treads familiar ground, with a few welcome surprises and more of the same brand of sweeping rock listeners have come to expect. A moody piano, a subtle string section, and Chris Martin's earnest voice highlight the ballad "What If," while "White Shadows" is a mellow rocker whose guitar recalls the Edge from U2. But the song that almost made my jaw drop is "Talk," which steals the hook from "Computer Love" by Kraftwerk (I am not kidding). Coldplay influenced by the German synth quartet? Yes, it's true. The rest of the album follows a similar pattern: big sweeping melodies, choruses that soar kite-high, and no real duds. While "X & Y" was just as big a multiplatinum seller as its predecessor, it also proved that Coldplay is more than "That British Band Whose Lead Singer Married That Hollywood Actress."
Pros: uh... its Coldplay! Need I say more?
Cons: none
I love this album! I can't stop playing it. I bought it for one song and i am so glad i did! there was no buyers remorse for this.
Pros: ALL
Cons: none
running like Speed of sound just for talk.........simply amazing.....
Pros: amazing lyrics, good beats
Cons: correct track order?
The CD X&Y is a masterpiece of music. This is so much better then the first two CD's which I both loved. The album takes you on a journey that justs makes you to reach out to other people no matter what they have done to you. The songs are written so well and so in tune with people's problems that everyone deals with that you may find yourself crying from time to time. However thetrack order could have been changed to put the hard rocking tracks up front like "Sqaure One, Talk, Speed of Sound, White Shadows, X&Y, and Low", these would have been my X tracks in order. My Y tracks would have been Y1- "The Hardest Part", Y2-"What If" Y3-"Swallowed in the Sea"
Y4-"Twisted Logic" Y5-"The Message" and finally "Fix You". "Fix You" is the best and most moving track on the album as it's slow start makes you want to cry, then it erupts like a volcono into the highest of highs before setting down to it's start of making you cry after jumping up and down. Overall, the CD is one of the best to come out in a long time and for a while.
Pros: Great Listening, intriging
Cons: Too different from previous cds
This cd is not coldplays' best cd, it is a good cd however. This cd isnt the old coldplay and it doesn't have the same melody that the old ones do which keeps us all asking for more. But if your a big coldplay fan youll like it.
Pros: Relaxing
Cons: None
The best released as of yet!
Pros: n/a
Cons: n/a
Defines what the band seems to have been pushing for all along...a much more "techy", "electro" vibe than on past albums, the boys of "Coldplay" reunite to bring forth their best work thus far. Demonstrates a great maturity in their craft...the sounds are vibant and synth laden...they seemingly ooze ambience. Songs like "White Shadows", "Square One", & "Talk" ease abroad the 1980's "Kraftwerk" sound...while tracks like "X&Y" & "A Message" stay true to the "Coldplay" sound we've all come to enjoy....a perfect compliment to any record collection.
Pros: We have waited decades for this!
Cons: None
I am 52 years old and not since I heard the Moody Blues and Pink Floyd in my youth have I been entirely captivated by a band. Unbelievable and beautiful! Certainly the best music in decades.
Pros: New styel blended with the old
Cons: Lack of great songs
X&Y is a great album but I don't think it's Coldplay's best. Actually I think it's their worst. Their are 5 songs I love on this album; White Shadows, Talk, Swallowed in the Sea, The Hardest Part and 'Til Kingdom Come. Other than the ending of Twisted Logic, there is not much else on this album.
Pros: hey now what up g dog
Cons: cool fool
Bayley kingery and i loved it
Pros: i loved the songs not too slow or too fast
Cons: nothing
This is one of Coldplay's best work. I'd have to admit that their first album was alittle boring but they came back with their second album "A Rush of Blood to the Head" and my all time favorite song: Clocks. But even though i still love blarring Clocks every now and then, Coldplay has replaced my favorite song of their's to Speed of Sound. Most of my friends say it's basically the same notes as Clocks but in a different octive. But i say that it's a great new original peice that Coldplay continues to create. i can't wait until they come up with their next album. i'll be first in line to get it and i will always be their #1 fan!!!
