This is the true story of how porn star John Holmes (Kilmer) and his teenage girlfriend (Bosworth) became involved with a quadruple homicide that happened at a house on Wonderland Avenue in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles in 1981. Rising to fame in the late 1960s and 1970s, Holmes became addicted to cocaine in 1978, which soon led him to be unable to function in porn films the way he used to, which led him to turn to drug running and theft to support his growing drug habit, often working for a drug kinpin who went by the name of Eddie Nash. Eventually owing Nash a fortune, Holmes reportedly got the idea of planning a robbery of Nash's own home, which nabbed cash and jewelry worth over $250,000. The problem, however... is that Nash reportedly figured out who was behind the crime, and forced Holmes to finger his accomplices, who were then murdered at the house on Wonderland Avenue on July 1st, 1981.

    Pros: Holmes

    Cons: Lind

One of the most probing movies about international morality issues made in recent times. If the viewer has a couple of hints, he or she will see a Greek tragedy that is timeless, irregardless of who is portrayed here. No mention is made of Holmes h...aving had been a veteran stationed in Germany, nor of David Lind being a member of the Aryan Brotherhood. Barbara Richardson was as young when Lind met her as Kudrow's character was when Holmes met her. Holmes called Lind a "rapist?" How many AB members are depicted here? The hazy scenes are recognized by every veteran who was stationed in Germany during the occupation, and is transferred to the screen excellently. The versions of the tragedy are narrated by Lind, Holmes, and the LAPD. The first two are lies designed to give the narrators favorable positions with the LAPD, the last what the LAPD interpreted them as showing. A remarkable movie that no doubt has left many people with questions about what this was really about. "Come home clean." Or else. Read more Less

    Pros: Realistic

    Cons: Gore

I thought this movie was very realistic. I did feel I was there. I felt sympathy for the characters. The recreation of the murders were deeply disturbing enough to keep me up for the night. This is just one account of the dark side of society & human... nature, and they did a good job portrayingthis. Read more Less
