Strangely compelling B-movie fare. The location -- a real Romanian manor house -- is probably the best thing about film (great dungeon!) and gives it a nicely creepy look. Otherwise it's typical haunted house/slasher fare with the usual conventions ...(like if a teenage couple has sex, you know they're going to die.) Teenage goth-y witch kid invites her friends to her ancestral house for a party, but in reality they are all descendents of the people who burned her ancestor at the stake, and it's payback time. Ariauna Albright does a great job as the ressurected witch Lilith -- her facial expressions manage to come through all the prosthetic makeup she's wearing. The sequels to 'Witchouse' are superior, but it helps to have seen the first one to follow the story (such as it is.) If you're a fan of grade-B horror, it's good for a night's diversion.
